View Full Version : 68 sdv storage

Picked up a 92 Corvette this month and the garage is real crowded, so I've decided to put the 1968 sdv in a storage facility for 4 months. (Yeah I know I know the old girl deserves better but it's only a few months; she's seen worse)

Usually the car sits all winter anyway and being such a reliable machine, it always starts up and runs no problem in spring. But with a storage facility I'm thinking I need to take better precautions.

At the moment I plan to disconnect battery, fill up with fuel and put additive, and maybe overinflate the tires a bit. Anything else I should do for a short-term storage? I don't want to spend days on this.

Other concern I have is mice. It's unlikely to be a problem but if they ate thru my plus wires or NOS interior I'd be some pissed. Should I stick in mothballs or anything?

Any ideas would really help me out here.

Gee no replies after all this time. Am I being shunned for ousting my Caddy for a Chevy? I guess there's another similar thread out there. But I just feel like nobody likes me anymore...

Sounds like you got it covered for a short term storage. The Firebird I recently sold (91 T/A 'vert) would sit in my garage for months at the time without any special attention. Probably wouldn't hurt to crank it up every several weeks and let it run for 10-15 minutes. Clean it good and make sure there's no food lying around for the critters to munch on.

What color is your Vette? T-top coupe or 'vert?

Thanks Highway Star,

3000 original mile coupe? WTH? Where'd you find that?

Got the 68 in storage finally. Looked like a real nice place actually. I think I was the first to use this garage. Tight seals on the door will hopefully keep out the mice.

My vette is "Bright Aqua Metallic". It's a rare "low-option" combination of cloth seats, manual AC, single power seat, and 6spd. Only 90,000kms. A great first corvette. Check out the pics!
