If they manage to clean up the awful V shape in the front, I think it will look good. The headlights are key.

Well being GM has been successful with the in your face styling of the Escalade, I believe they're using that formula with the new restyled CTS.

i don't like the grill.

My only complaint thus far is that the chicken-wire looking mesh should have been replaced with the mesh from the V and current Sport.
Can't wait for NAIAS to get a good look at the whole car in person. Hopefully they will have a few on the floor and not just the car on a pedestal... I want to be able to touch the new interior. :D

okay, things to notice.

the fogs are now projectors. HID is still and option
but the headlight cleaners are now gone.

in the first link you can see the preproduction model, then look at the top pic, there are a few subtle differences that all together... are .. meh

there is an odd line going down the side of the headlights to the top of the foglights, it seems to be a part of the style but it looks like a join seam till you realize it doesnt really go anywhere. it breaks up the front and makes it look more narrow. that should be done away with.

I'm sure it'll look ten times better in person...

Agreed! The Sport grill would look nice, but I still think the grill is abit large!

Something about it looks off. At least it has clear fogs though. I still think the V front looks better than that though. The v front is siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick, makes the car look mean.

I really like it. With the upgraded interior, its going to be a knock out. Fall availability sucks though. I was hoping for early spring.

Actually I like my own better. The grill ruins it for me. Maybe it will grow on me but I doubt it. Whens the next body change? Hmmmthen there is the STS-V:)

I will have to see the whole thing. As for now I am not sure about that grill...

From what I can tell I don't like it. It looks more similar to the 300C. The huge grill would look better on a SUV than a sedan and makes the car look too fat and heavy (not to be confused with "phat").

Even more frightening are the spy shots of the interior that look like something from Acura circa 1995. It appears that Cadillac has ditched the hard edges and center pod in favor of a more 'friendly' and IMO bland interior.

I'll wait until January to make my final judgement but from the pics I've seen I'm not hopeful.

Ok I see it now.....Man, that whole pic can be photoshopped.... It'd be kinda cool if it loooked totally different then all these spy shots....

I like it a lot... I'll be putting aside my plans for an '07 and I'll wait for the '08 CTS-V... I think that grill is a killer... It makes a real statement, in your face and out of my way...

Curious to see how they massage the "V" to make it stand out... Maybe some wire mesh in the grill? The interior of the spy shots looks fantastic as well. Love the steering wheel and the arc of the dash...

But, as a previous poster said, "I don't buy pictures"... I'll have to see one in the dealer's lot and take one for a boot to seal the deal...

I think the look is really stunning and will draw a lot of attention. I really like the look of my '06 but I also believe GM has to get this aggresive to win back market share. I mean this car is going to make most cars it competes with look down and out boring.

why the hell did they move the low beam projectors to the bottom of the headlight housing? i think the placement of our projectors right now is FRIGGIN AWESOME. It gives the car a more elevated, elegant look. Im really not digging the headlights on the new one..

The real front end will come to a convex point in the center when viewed from above, just like the current model.

This seemingly slight difference makes all the difference in the world as to how the front looks.

Someone asked earlier for a chop with the projector beam on top: I did this in 5 minutes with a touchpad laptop (not my PC with a mouse), so it's pretty crappy, but you get the point:

some analysis:

Xeon headlams and Xeon fog lamps.. LED high beams (cool).

Honeycomb mesh is gone or still only for the V.

A bit of a cowl hood (do you see the line by lutz?) it has a bit of retro styling like a 59 or 69 cadillac- both has this deisgn feature)

also slots for brake cooling ducts next to the foglamps (think veeee)

I like the design... but I reserve judgment on the rear from the shots I have been seeing.

For a base CTS I like it. I hope the V gets a better lower air dam and the mesh grille.

My apologies. :hide: I only searched the forum back through 12.22.06...which is when the Chinese article was dated. I see the last post (before your merge post) was 12.21.06. So I must've just missed it.

But all-in-all, I see a smiling face in that car (complete with fog-light dimples)...which doesn't give me a feeling of "aggressiveness." However, I've not seen the entire front end, so I'll reserve judgement until I see it in Detroit in January. I do like it so far....headlights, grille, and all.

I just hope the fog lights are as ridiculously bright as the current CTS fogs are! ;)

i think that's a pic of the two door CTC but i could be wrong....Maybe the four door will look similar if not the same front end.

I just Googled 2008 CTS & this image came up. It is clearly a V & seems to be the same as the car under the blue tarp. Who knows if it's accurate or not.

Maybe this will grow on me, but looking at the entire car, I prefer the current look with the orange daytime running lights.

That Is A Inaccurate Pic Because Gm Has Not Taken Any Pics Of The CTS Uncovered...And If They Did It wold Not Be Shown To The Public Right Now.

The proportions aren't right. I suspect a photochop. But it does look close. I don't like it myself. May have to look at the STS next time I buy.

Obviously it's not an actual pic of the new CTS since it's not going to be unveiled until Detroit, but my guess would be they used all the spy photos floating around and the sneak peek pics to make this artist's rendition. I'm just wondering if it's close. I guess we'll see pretty soon.

That's an obvious photoshop job. A lot of bright highlights with no HDRI reflections.

The positioning of the car and background are taken from a pic of the current CTS-V. I'll see if I can dig it up...

I would wager that they copied on the new front end and used the smudge and clone tools to drag and smooth out the rest of the lines...
You can see where they evened out the pavement in the lower right corner too.

Also look at how the car sits in the photoshopped pic. They look to have tucked the wheel to get a more aggressive stance, but didn't change the others. The driver's front spring would have to be broken to get that kind of lean. They also seem to have forgotten the passenger rear wheel if you look under the car.

The more I look at it, the more I see small lazy flaws. Hope no one was paid much for that, it's not very good.

Maybe the rear passenger tire is being changed? That's why there is no wheel and the car is leaning so far... :p

I think the author of that photoshop did a good job to try and give people a view of what it could look like from a distance. The grill looks less gross from a far away view, but I still think it will look bad on the actual car when pictures are released from Detroit. We will have to wait and see.

the next V is supposed to have more dramtica side moldings, fender flares and a new hood to help differentiate it from the cts

apparently owners were saying "wait, i spent an extra 15k (40k cts with all options) and all i got was a new bumper and grille?" (i know there are other more subtle trademarks)
