I just purchased this car last Saturday, 3/06/2004, and the owner said that the radio/cd/cassette worked fine before the long 6 year sleep the car had. After removing the cover, gas, & dust, I installed a new battery and started the car. The readio came on and looked to be working fine. None of the speakers/amps made a sound. I have heard it said that the cars computer had an anti-theft system that would make the radio not work. Anyone have any ideas that I could try to get the system up?
thanks
Ed

I'm confused. It sounds like you had it working, but the title says problems.

What is it doing (or what is it not doing)?

Also, there are a fair amount of us who straddle boards, but you may want to put up a post at www.allantenet.us (click on the Allante Net button below the big picture). Lots of Allante fanatics there, some with lots of knowledge.

There are a lot of parts that are not Allante-specific (drivetrain) but the radio is one part that is unique to the Allante (although the amps were used on other vehicles).

Dhussey is particularly well-versed at keeping these cars operating and he is a great source of used parts as well.

Personally, my radio worked and I was able to find a replacement belt for the cassette player. My amps were toast, so I went with an aftermarket amp and replacement speakers. I'm happy with the performance, but its more money and work.

I can't help you to get the radio going, but I can tell you Allantes weren't equipped with the radio Theftlock system.

Does this car have the factory mobile phone? is there a cradle in the console to support a phone? If yes, I would ck that first. The hands free operation caused the speakers to switch to phone. Maybe something disconnected?

Did you ever get the problem fixed? I have the same issue. Radio truns on and lightsup, but just get a pop or loud click from speakers.Nosound from any of them? Is that what you experienced? Any solution?

What you are gettng is a symptom of amp failure. This is very common. Most have been replaced by now. We have instructions for removing them on our website at www.allantesource.com . Look for the "Bose Spkrs" button on the left menu items. We may have a set of rebuilt units in stock if you are interested.
