: Click noise when AC is on?

My 98 Sedan Deville (109K) makes a loud click noise under the hood every 20-30 seconds only when the AC is on. It does not occur when ac is off or on Econ mode. It appears coming from the area with all the motors and belts.

The car runs fine with no major repair except a new alternator and a new battery a year ago.

Could someone please tell me what is going on?

Thanks.

Kevin

I would say this normal. It is just the AC compressor cyling on and off.

Yea, if there's only one click when the clutch engages on the compressor, that's normal. It's not normal when it sounds like marbles in a blender while the compressor is running.

Thank you very much. I got concerned because I don't have click before and it is pretty loud (a single click every 20-30 seconds).
Should I still keep the ac on all the time?

Could be low on freon. But I think when it shuts off from a low freon signal it will trip an error message on you DIC.

I wouldn't worry much yet. Use it as you noramlly would.
