: Typical owner?

I guess I'm the typical CTS-V owner. The car has 10,400 miles on it and it just got out of the shop for a new radiator. Two weeks ago I had to get new tires because the original F-1's were shot. I've had the rear end replaced once and the new one is now whining. I've had the nav system replaced because the knobs peeled and the clutch replaced because it stuck to the floor. I love the car, but this is starting to get old...

No, not typical. I have an 05 with 4k less miles and had the car into the shop twice for oil changes. Mechanic brags about the car to everyone there. I feel like some rockstar leaving that place. Sorry to hear your problems.

Haha I hear ya.

I'm still on the original diff, it's got a little whining, but I can hardly hear it. Just got my car back today, it was in this weekend for the new rad TSB.

Haven't had anything major done on the car. The guys at the dealership treat me great and they love the car too. It's sad that the car's under a cover in the garage now for the snowy season.

Mine's a year old with 13K. I have to take it in for an oil change but can't think of anything else I need to get taken care of.

Don't worry, it'll all settle down...

Almost 30k on my '05. Original Diff, original radiator, original brakes. New tires about 7k ago. I've had little tiny things taken care of...but nothing that stops me from driving the hell outta her.

'04 with just over 30,000 miles, on 3rd rear differential (all under warranty), 2nd set of tires (switched to Michellin Pilot Sport A/S when original runflats wore out at 8,000 miles), several other small issues all taken care of under warranty. With all its warts, I still love the car; the most fun to drive I've ever had. Stealth-V Tune and Free Flow V CAI, Corsa exhaust, etc. and it's:burn:

... have a coin sliding back and forth behind the ashtray area. ...:histeric:

New dif (at the suggestion of the dealer) otherwise, no peeling buttons, no rattles, no battery problems, no radiator leaks, no tranny issues, and no sail panels flying around, no sunroof glitches ... just a big grin every time I light her up. :D

~11,000 on my 06. Upper right nav button pealing. That's it. The button issue is a GM wide problem, not a CTS-V problem.

Thanks for backing me up. I've been reading this forum since I bought my V in December 2004 and it seems that everyone has had the same problems that I have had; rear end, tires, clutch, radiator, radio buttons, etc., etc., etc. I just figured that all of us have had these issues. Then I posted this thread and people came out of the woodwork to say that they haven't had any problems with their V's. Makes me wonder just how many people have had the "typical" problems and how many haven't. Don't get me wrong, I love my V. I traded my 2001 C5 for it and never looked back. But my warranty record reads like a book.

I have an 04 with 30,500 on the clock. The car has had the following done, in order:

New Transmission
New Radio (flaky)
New Sunroof Switch
New Differential (05)
New Differential (06)
New Radiator
Oil Temp Sensor Recalibration
New Power Steering Pump

Total Cost: 5 weeks without V out of the 10 months I've had it.

New77Guy: great news that you have not replaced the clutch at 30,000. I was concerned that these cars would have a short clutch life span.

Nah...... you go through at least 2 nav units before a clutch if you use the nav like some people. Hey it's one reason why my wife has this car. SHE GETS LOST OFTEN!!!!!!!!!!

I think my Radiator is about to blow chow (I'm smelling coolant), so the V may be in the shop for a bit. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining since I have a Vette and an Eldo to look forward to driving. The V could be gone for a month, it just makes me appreciate how much fun it is to drive when it comes home.

Maybe I'll run the loaner to Phoenix again!

If you ask for unlimited miles on the loaner they say "why certainly sir, will there be anything else?"

'05 V. Took over lease in 6/06 w/ 8500 miles. Since then: new tires, new trans, new driveshaft, new rear end, waterpump/thermostat problem (but never fixed), rattling exhaust system, random "Check Coolant" messages. Car bought back by GM 3 weeks ago. Un-fixable driveline vibration at highway speeds.

Wasn't it "Motor Trend" that said this car was not a Luxury Sports Car but rather a Race Car.??? They were comparing it to the STS-v.

And I love my race car....
