View Full Version : Good customer service is hard to come by. But I've found it. I bought a Westinghouse 15" LCD from Best Buy for $165 last year just before Christmas.
1. In February 06 it died. I shipped it out for service and they promptly sent it back.
2. Over the summer, it died again. I shipped it out for service and they promptly sent it back. This time, they apologized and paid for my shipping costs.
3. Then again, at the beginning of this December, it died for the third time, just days before my warranty was due to expire.
Three deaths in one year.
I called them and they apologized profusely. They said they'd look into it and called me back. I got a voicemail from Ashley at Westinghouse [wow, I really did get a call back], and she offered to upgrade me to a 17" display for free.
I'm a happy camper and I'll be buying more Westinghouse products in the future. Not only are they easy to get a hold of and easy to deal with, I get to speak to ACTUAL AMERICANS who make a real effort at solving problems. Their call center is also in the same location as their warehouse and repair facilities, so I was able to call, check on a repair, and get a real, live answer. You can take it back without a box or receipt and get your money back or exchange it for another TV....My aunt returns TV's every year their and they never give her shit....She just upgrades and says its broken....Not very ethical but it works! slk230mb 12-12-06, 01:56 PM Good to know about Westinghouse. I bought my mom one of their digital picture frames for Christmas. Good to know. I bought a 32 LCD Westinghouse last Christmas. I've had zero probs with it though. I read a lot of good reviews that said Westinghouse is the best bang-for-the-buck TV out there. caddycruiser 12-12-06, 02:29 PM Good information to know. I've had a similar experience with my Transcend (odd brand, but love) MP3 player when it was having issues. I did all my inquiries by email, but always got very quick and thorough responses, and quickly got an upgraded replacement when the first one died halfway through the warranty period. Now I get to start fresh, with a new player and a new warranty, so I'm happy.
Similar things with Emachines too, at least earlier on, when we had issues with a computer--call California to a non-800 number, but very good service and replacement parts sent without question. They've changed, though, with Gateway buying them and not for the better, at least not IMHO. dp102288 12-12-06, 08:42 PM Glad they are being so nice.
I heard about the Costco thing...seems kinda evil but I would probably do it myself. I am not too proud of that though. Taco Bell = E COLI :vomit: :urb: Girl at Subway did that to me once. She slammed my bread on the table like I just ruined her night and angrily threw my veggies on the sandwich. I stopped eating there for a while, and she doesn't work there anymore. codewize 12-12-06, 10:46 PM That's called Theft by Deception and is very illegal.

I invented those I just didn't get to market in time.

Taco John's you're thinking of.
Oh yeah, and the last time I went to Fantastic Sam's, the woman did a shitty job of cutting my hair, left the bangs longer on one side and kept pushing conditioner on me, like if I didn't buy it, she would get killed. I went back there yesterday and I was talking with the stylist and she said the woman who cut it before got fired. I laughed to my self. slk230mb 12-12-06, 11:35 PM I invented those I just didn't get to market in time.
I had been watching a few of them for about a year and the prices just came down on them a bit. It's a great idea considering the digital era. It works out well for me because the remodeled kitchen doesn't have a refrigerator with a metal door (it's got a panel just like the cabinets).
Taco John's you're thinking of.
Surely you jest.

Speaking of which, does anyone know a good patent lawyer? I~LUV~Caddys8792 12-12-06, 11:42 PM Surely you jest.

That's wierd, the local news said something about a local Taco John's having an E-Coil outbreak too. That's wierd, the local news said something about a local Taco John's having an E-Coil outbreak too.
Taco Bell and Taco John's are the places to watch out for E-Coli
Just found out that Jamba Juice's strawberries were found to have listeria monocytogenes, which are fatal in young children and the elderly. Stay away from there too for awhile CadillacGurl 12-12-06, 11:52 PM Haha my friend works at Jamba Juice she was telling me not to eat strawberries. That answers my "why?" question thank you Gary.
My dad is a big guy on customer service especially at Dick's. My dad will bring me or my siblings with him to Dicks, aka we the kids are the secret shoppers. I went to get new running shoes, the sales person kept bringing out size 9 shoes. Yes I have big feet but I'm actually a 10. I kept telling him 10 but he said oh no I could fit into a 9 coz they're Nike. Yeah Nike barely has size 10 for women so I knew he was lying coz I had bought plenty of Nike shoes before. He got in big trouble when he found out who I was. Another story is the owners wife (I was with her along with my mom) was trying to get a pair of running shoes but Dick's didn't have them in stock. The sales person told her to go to Foot Locker. BAD Idea! Haha I have a lot of customer service stories I can tell a lot more, my brothers are probably the greatest. I~LUV~Caddys8792 12-13-06, 12:04 AM Customer service is a real priority where I work. That's why I rarely talk to customers, I tend to say too much. Or, I'll tend to tell the truth in an area of grey. dp102288 12-13-06, 11:44 AM I was so sad when I heard about Taco Bell...I love that place. :( | |
