: Does it work? 00-01 Devile Nav. Upgrade

12-12-06, 09:36 AM
I read 4 pages of search results and still couldn't get a clear cut awnser.

1. If you have a Bose HU with-out Nav can you swap in a same year Nav System?

2. If you suceed at 1., can you upgrade to 2002+ DVD system

Some people say it can't be done, some say that it can be done, at least in other models, some say that the car will freak out if it finds something with a differnt vin# in it.

PS sorry if I am:horse:

i dont care what anyone here says
you can get it to work
you may not be able to get full functionality out of it like voice command, but you will be able to use the nav system without it
i planned on doing a full write up on how to do it but i cannot afford to purchase one for more than 200-300 bucks i already bought a 1200 nav system which i like and plan on keeping but i figured id offer info to the forum
so if anyone can get me a dvd nav system i can do a full write up on how to do it and send it back

and about the 00 cdrom system forget it
that system is IMPOSSIBLE to add
it used 3 different components and without the correct harness it cannot be done...

So the 02+ can be put in the 00+ cars?
When I find one at a good price I will send it to you

no doubt you can install it and have it work
so long as you get the nav antenna and the map dvd it can be done very simply, well simply to me idk about others it depends on their knowledge of the wiring on these cars and how audio works...

I have to ask although it may be obvious...if you got it to work on a 00 Caddy, could it work in my 95 Eldo?

12-12-06, 07:19 PM
for 1 you dont have bose which makes it IMPOSSIBLE
then add in your plug for the radio is completely different

youd have a better shot hookin it up to your SLS

^^ Thought so...oh well! Maybe I should save for one of the Avics from Pioneer.

Never thought Bose would come in handy! :p

hey man u want a nice one ill sell my avic-n1 for a grand
you wont find a better deal you know i take care of my stuff, i paid 1200 for it and it has a 3 year no deductible warranty
if it fires breaks snaps w/e as long as you dont take a hammer to it they will fix it or replace it

12-13-06, 07:52 PM
^^ I would but I still need to get the money! :p

12-13-06, 08:56 PM
u know where 2 find me if you want it lol

12-14-06, 08:36 PM
^^ I will def keep that in mind...thanks!

so whats up with this, any results?

02-22-07, 12:31 AM
what do you wanna know?

02-22-07, 10:33 AM
would the 02+ Navigation unit work in a 2001 DTS with a bose headunit?

if so how functional, what features would be lost?

would it be plug and play or what components would need to be modified?

02-22-07, 01:45 PM
youd lose voice for sure and probably the disc changer....
other than that i can walk you through it

02-22-07, 02:45 PM
disc changer too huh?

nah its coo, for what id pay for nav ill just build a small computer,

the benefit of the nav unit would be that its built for the caddy so less fabrication but WAY WAY WAY less features

02-23-07, 10:13 AM
cd changer im not 100% on, youd need to get an 02+ changer for sure and it probably will work but an 01 will not

05-14-07, 12:58 AM
What if you have a cd rom based unit in the car and want to upgrade to the dvd type system? If this can be done, and someone can tell me how to do it, I would pay for the time and knowledge.

could it be done by an average person prob not
could i do it maybe
cdrom used a completely different harness even more so from the base bose to dvd nav bose...
