How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the brilliant 1966 cartoon original, not that abomination of a movie; I hated it)
A Charlie Brown Christmas
A Christmas Story (it's fra-gi-le)

It's A Wonderful Life
A Christmas Carol
:yeah: We watch these every year. Great stories. We watched A Wonderful Life last night. The DVD has an interview with Frank Capra and James Stewart. Christmas is a depressing time for many people. The story is about someone who thinks it would be better if he were never born and clearly shows how a person affects the lives of those around him. I want to be a George Bailey - not a Mr Potter.

That was one smart movie. Too many of those shoot-em-ups are just preposterous.

To my mind, everybody in Bedford Falls shits all over poor George Bailey, and he just takes it. I would have given Bedford Falls the bird, gotten the hell out of Dodge and never looked back.

You must have a different version than me: :hmm:
George gets presents and favors just before he tries to set off on his travels.
His friend George Wainright tries to get him in on the ground floor of plastics that will make him rich. George turns it down.
The people only get what they need to survive during the run on the banks during the depression scene.
His brother is willing to give up a job with his new father-in-law to make good on a promise to allow George to go to college. George decides to stay.
He doesn't make much because he sells the houses they build for half of what they are worth according to Potter's accountant. That's George's decision.
In the end when George is in trouble, everyone pitches in to keep him out of prison. Including the feds and bank examiner.

I'll admit it's been a long time since I've seen the movie, so I don't remember the details you mention. That does make a difference.
