View Full Version : 2007 SRX - V8 Gas

Hi all,

I ordered a 2007 V8 SRX for my wife and will take delivery in January. I am sure Cadillac recommends premium gas for the Northstar, but I am also sure my wife will want to put in regular gas. For me, I have Lincoln Mark VIII and a Harley Low Rider, both of which I put premium gas in.......so if the vehicle were for me, I would just put premium in and be done with it.

I asked the Cadillac salesman and he says that the Northstar can run on regular gas just fine. Does anyone have any comment on this? I plan on keeping the SRX a long time and want to make sure I am treating the vehicle correctly.

Short answer: you do not need to use premium. However, I do. On the rare occasion I cannot get premium, and use a lower octane, do I notice a difference? Honestly, no. So why do I keep on using premium...(that was a rhetorical question for myself...)

Also, I always use midgrade or regular in my wife's Northstar (01 SLS) with no adverse effects...

The 90's Northstars did seem to need it though (and was recommended/required).
