The "Communication Interface Module" is located behind the radio in the dash.
"VCIM" is what they call the module we use nowadays.
The HVAC control and radio must be removed to access it.

It takes a while to get the radio out to get to it.
Also, I haven't looked at the schematics but some newer cars won't start if the VCIM is disconnected due to the way the communication bus is wired.

If you simply unplug the VCIM, many critical systems will not be able to communicate with eachother anymore.
Disabling the GPS and audio pickups should serve your purpose if you are worried about big brother, but you'll be looking at a Red OnStar LED and you'll have to do some work to figure out which wires to remove.
That module is smack in the middle of the communication bus.
It might start, but you'll have some serious lights in your face from all the lost modules off the data line.

Good luck.
