Could anyone give me any advice on changing a power steering pressure switch. I think mine is bad because its idling weird and the code was set off. I just want to know if its a hard job or not. it is freezing in Chicago and I would rather take it somewhere if its going to take hours. I have a 1990 deville 4.5 with 115k. no other problems or codes.
Looks like an oil pressure sender. Screws into the steering gear close to were the steering column meets the gear. Very common for the two wire connector to it to come loose or be corroded. Look down below the brake booster area to see it. Not too difficult to put an open end wrench on it to remove, but they dont usually fail. The connector is the likely suspect. Pull off the connector bend the tangs to grip tighter on the sender and apply dielectric grease in it and reconnect. Erase the code.
