Yep, this is an interesting and seldom seen piece. Like the power running boards, more of a toy than anything else, but could be a nice show for someone I guess. You lose the functionality and security of the hard panels, though, with essentially a soft cover.

Here's some pics of one installed on an Avalanche at a dealer:

That's kinda phat.... I wouldn't want it but it's still kinda phat, especially for the price.

That would be interesting, and would make it easier to get stuff out of the bed as well.

The only issue is that it isn't easily removable, like you can do with the panels in about a minute, and you can't just remove one part. It may have been considered by GM back in the original thinking, but was ruled out for that very reason--kinda like the rear window which stays lift out, because you lose a key point of functionality otherwise.

That kind of 1-piece cover would be nice to see from an aftermarket source, though, for those like you (and I assume many others) who would prefer such a a thing.

I would think this is a better one... but I believe it costs a few thousand.

I filmed it at SEMA, and I think the company is called Auto Covers but I'm not 100% sure.

Oh, wow! Never saw that before. Lifting up and onto the roof is a bit extreme, but it definately opens the rear cargo area as much as possible--all with a button. Having owned an Avalanche, I could actually see the use in that one though.

Would likely look a bit weird opening that out in public, but I strangely like it...kinda like power running boards, I guess. Just an expensive toy.

That looks perfect for car shows.

all you need is a flat screen on the bottom aiming to the back of the car when its raised.

Actually, when I spoke with the sales rep there about it - he said that was a very common thing to do. Appearently it can hand quite a bit of weight so LCD or Plamsa TV's are the perfect thing to install there. :D

Hi I am new here. I have an 2005 EXT. 2 Weeks ago I saw a hard paneled powered tonneau cover at the Woodward cruise in Michigan. It was on an Avalanche and it folded onto the roof. It looked cool. From a distance it looked like they had an LCD mounted to one of the panels. I could not make out the company. Does anyone know who makes it. I really would like one. The stock panels are just to heavy to lift off.
