Greetings to All,
After searching the forum I have not found an answer to my problem.
I have seen a few posts where people had the same problem, but never any real answers, probabaly becuase it a wiring problem?
My 99 Eldo had a problem with the interior lights not working at all.
Also the trunk light, courtesy, and glove box light too. I checked and even replaced the fuse under the hood to that set of lights, and checked and swapped the maxi fuse also. Someone told me that a bad bulb could possible cause all the lights on that curcuit not to work. Its doesn't sound right to me, but I suppose anything is possible. Is it possible for a problem device, such as one of the lamps or holders is causing all of them not to work?
Is it time for me to go to the dealer?
Where is the best place to get the schematic diagrams for the wiring on my car? Which is the best manual to buy for troubleshooting.
Sorry for all the questions, but this car is new to me, and this little problem is kicking my butt....
Peace

:hmm: Check and post any codes the car might be throwing. if you are not sure how to do that, check the How To section. It may indicate a electrical problem.

There are no codes coming up, assuming that I am doing it correctly, as in
depressing the passenger heat off and up at the same time.
I did find the problem thanks to reading about 50 posts on the problem, one guy had the same exact problem, I wish I could find the post now...and the poster, so I could personally thank him.
His post led me directly to the problem, a corroded orange wire at the plug where the relay plugs in. I was cleaning it up, and trying to get the relay off, and the wire broke, rats! I had some trouble getting the pin out of the conector, and just about ruined it trying, but finally got it out, and soldered a small pigtail to the connector , since the harness wasn't long enough.
Low and behold ALL my lights are working now!!
I was so happy to see them come on, I could have done a dance. LOL
Thanks to you people here that share your knowledge about the problems and the fixes you have had, saved me a lot of money from a trip to the dealer.
MY HATS OFF, to all you members here, for sharing your knowledge!!
I love this place, as much as my new Caddy, well its only a 99, but it new to me!
I do think the placement of the fuse panel, and the relays in these cars was a very poor choice. Even though my car is extremely clean for the year, I was shocked to see all the road scum, and dirt under the plastic fuse panel.
It is too close to the wheelwell, and gets all the crap coming off the front tire.
I would suggest anyone with this type of car that is having any strange problems with their lights, accessories, fuses, seats, or a ton of other electrical type problems, CHECK THE WIRING GOING TO THE RELAYS!
The pins get corroded, and the connection fails, actually once copper lead on the relay was completely green, along with the copper pin in the housing, why use copper there??
Looking at the condition of the relays and the connections in the car, I'm not surprised these cars have strange wiring problems.
I am no mechanic, so this is just my personal finding on my car.
I have only driven this car about 100 miles so far, but I absolutely love the comfort of the car, and the seats are far superior to even the seats in a Mercedes Benz, or a Lexus that I recently looked at.
Peace and thanks to everyone here for posting here!

I also wanted to mention that I found a great deal on the Helm manual at helminc. They have 50% off for models 2000 and under I think.
Another great savings to me because of the information that I got from this forum. What a great place this is!
Does anyone know how many volumes there are, I have seen a 2 volume set on Ebay, but when I emailed Helm, they replied that there were several volumes, but they were not sure of how many? I thought that was a pretty wierd answer, how about looking at one, and finding out? LOL
Anyone with the helm manual for the 99 Eldo, how many volumes are there?
Thanks
