: 2007 Z06.. coming soon...

.. not for me, but my Dad. We are putting the SRT-8 Charger on the trailer Friday and heading up to PA to pick up his new 2007 2LZ Black/Ebony Z06. It has touchscreen Navigation, Onstar, Heated Seats, HUD, Polished wheels, the works. It is a done deal, we unload the Charger at the dealership and then load up the Z06 and trailer it back home to Virginia Beach with our E-350 Super Duty.
We were going to drive it, but 500 miles of road debris did not sound like a good idea.
Pics coming this weekend! :D

Thats SEXY! My dad and I were talking last night he wants to get a Vette to stick it in the house in Illi but my mom doesn't want to. So dad and I have some persuading to do :D Though he probably won't let me drive it...

Where in PA are you picking it up??

Haha, I taped up the front of my Fleetwood when I drove to Miami.. that in itself took an hour.

The point of the trailer was to preserve the Charger and Vette. They expect the Charger in a certain condition and with a certain mileage.. the trailer will help keep that part of the deal.

Trust me, we would love to drive the Z06 home, but as long as we have a trailer... why not? This way it saves the Z06 from some harm and saves us from getting speeding tickets.

OMG... just got back last night at 1am...
We ended up driving the Charger up and then driving the Z06 back... I taped up the front end and rockers of both cars (the Charger was too long for the trailer).

This car is amazing, by far the best car I have ever driven. It was even more comfortable than the SRT8 Charger and we got 24.8 mpg in it crusing at 75-90 mph!!

The car has so much torque in every gear and the handling is amazing (I like the Gmeter on the HUD). We can't wait to take it to the track this spring after it is broken in.
This is my Dad's 6th Vette and it is a totally different animal. It is refined below 4000 rpm and turns into a rabid beast above that. You really feel connected with the suspension, steering, and drivetrain and the car compliments your every move.... but if you piss it off, it WILL bite you in the ass!
We had a small run-in with a new M5 from Alexandria to Newport News. It was pretty fun, but we didn't push the Z06 too hard because of the break-in period. The M5 owner gave us a four way hazard and honk when he exited the highway.
Talk about Attention getter!! We got numerous thumbs up, screams from teenage girls, drools from married men in minivans, and honks from big rig drivers.
About the Ferrari: Yes, it is a overall better car. But is it a true enthusiasts car? Is it a drivers car or a "I have money look at me car? What will you see out at the track more, the Ferrari or the Z06? Last but not least... the Ferrari has a 2 year bumper to bumper warranty. The Z06 has a 5 year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. For a $100K price difference... the answer is simple.
What else can you ask for besides a sweet powertrain, good warranty, excellent aftermarket..
Ontop of all that, the car is easily capable of being a daily driver during the week and then driven to the track on the weekend. For daily driving it has luxury like Navigation, Satellite Radio, Heated Seats, HUD, Onstar, etc etc.
The Charger SRT-8 was missed for about 15 minutes...
I am impressed.... pics coming shortly after I get all this tape off and give it a bath.

Exactly, and this is a stock car. lol. When you find me a fleetwood that can pull off a 3.5 second 0-60 time (Car and Driver) without costing more than a Z06 and getting 25 mpg, I'll buy it.

You HAVE to go take a ride/drive one of these things. You cant even understand what is happening.

Check it out.

It's ironic. I work in a Chevrolet dealer, and we've gotten a few C6 Z06's in for service or what have you, but I don't think I'll ever get to drive or ride in one. :(

You could build up a LT1 Brougham to the Z06 straight line performance level and it would cost you much less than the $72,000 MSRP cost of the Z06.

Hee-hee, I can imagine!

The Fleetwood is my "awesome, on such a tight budget" car...but, one day, there will DEFINATELY be a Vette in the collection. Always one of my favorites, and just an amazing car for the pricetag.

Oh, and when I recently was in a meeting with the director of GM advanced powertrain systems, the "wow!" fuel economy of the blistering fast Vette was the start of our talks, and mentioned several times more after. Awesome--and just made me more jealous, since I can't even get close to those numbers with my boat. Key example of weight & air drag, versus similar engines:rolleyes: .

Was it direct port? How big of a shot? I have it on my WS6, have yet to run it at the track. I am assuming it will go elevens on the 100 shot.

Hey is the LS7 a sort of a descendent of the LT1 in your Fleetwood?

caddycruiser
12-04-06, 03:12 PM
Hey is the LS7 a sort of a descendent of the LT1 in your Fleetwood?

Not really in a technical sense...the LS-series that came out in '97 in the Vette completely replaced the LT-series, but started as the same 350 small block design--just a much more modern iteration. Then with the new Vettes, the LS continued, but they were bored out more and refined in other ways, making the LS2 and LS7.

So, in theory, a descendant as far as timeline and being the common GM small block line, but really different technical designs. Case in point, though some have converted things like Caprices and such to be powered by LS2's, the electronics and even fitment are quite a bit different--it's just a more advanced engine design. The LT is still the easier one to drop in a variety of older cars, too, since it's basic structure is much like older sb's, and the electronics not as advanced.

Someone DID just recently post pictures on the Fleetwood board of another Fleetwood being made into a convertible that had been converted with a '01-05 Vette LS6 engine under the hood however...

Basically it's the GM small block V8 family, with many unique variations through the ages.
