aw man that sucks i feel your pain it must suck to be driving a escalade in highschool wow did you beat the kid up and take his lunch money after you were done doing your homework and forgot a period do you even know what a sentence is maybe if you did you could figure out how to fix the car yourself

yea i know man every couple of months i take it in and come out with a list with about 10-15 things wrong, its like i paid 65k for the car to sit in service and drive a buick rental around. my transmission went twice and i have 36k miles on the car i got the check engine light about 10 times, and the seats on these cars wear out so freakin fast, at 36k my driver side seat looks the truck has 200k miles on it......... the interior peeled nd was rpelaced, countless other problems with electrical components in 2 years the car must have had 100 repairs done.

Hey, its an 03....the seats are gonna be worn a little. The dealer did your service right, then you tried the cheap way of fixing the seats with dye, and then some kid backs into you and now you can't stand GM. Makes perfect sense to me. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/rolex/jerkit.gif

Sounds like you bought a used Escalade and probably didn't bother to assess the condition of anything other than the paint and chrome wheels. Makes perfect sense to come to a board of people who own and love Cadillacs to piss and moan about these things.

I go offroading all the time in my 03

That won't help the condition of this vehicle BTW. Best of luck to you.

I only buy Escalades and Yukon Denalis.

No one comes even close to making an 18" luxury SUV like GM.

I love my "07 ESV .. I would give that truck a hug every day if I could get my arms around it.

Quit the hatin!

You got to realize that these things with 4 wheels, that we sit inside DEPRECIATE!! Especially at 44,000 miles. But I don't blame him trying to use every single mile of that warranty.

By the way... getting an Escalade handed down to you means your driving a car that is straight BALLIN, not that your BALLIN babi!!!!

If I had a car that disappointed me that much I'd give it to a homeless person to live in.

I come from a long line of GM employees - execs to line workers. Even I am disappointed with the overall quality of cars GM are putting out these days, but you are way off base, Caddytippin. You're 18 (which means you either: a) Bought it used -- unless you purchased a $60k car at 15yrs old -- if so, congrats or b) are driving the parents' caddy), drive it like it's stolen, drive it offroading and expect it to hold up like a Hummer. It's far from GM's fault that you tear your vehicle up and even less their fault that some other kid backed into you.

I really hate to sound like an old man, but these sort of things irritate me. Back in the day, parents actually made their kids earn things and thus, they weren't taken for granted. My first car was an old Plymouth Fury state police car -- I called it the "FUF" (F'd Up Fury) as it had voltage regulator issues that would literally blow the headlights out, chewed up distributors like PEZ and had shocks that were shot... oh and no radio. Nonetheless, I loved that car and cherished it because I saved up from the time I was 13 to 16 to buy the car myself.

Point being, if you were footing the bill yourself, you likely wouldn't beat on it and it might not have the issues you speak of. Not to say vehicles don't have issues, mind you - my brand new ESV is at the dealer as we speak getting software updates... then again, I haven't taken it off-roading so I'm comparing apples and oranges. :)

If I'm off-base in anyway, I apologize. I doubt I am though, based on the spoiled undertone of your original post.

Good luck.

At this point, I'm surprised you don't have complaints about the radio.

What in the hell did this kid do to be treated like he's a child by everyone? It doesn't matter if he bought his car used, new or got it handed down from his parents. No matter how he got the damn thing he's expressing some dissapointment no different than many other people on this forum have also expressed. Being 25-but looking far younger- i understand exactly what its like to be treated unfairly because of what people think my age is. Furthermore you all have treated this young man like a p.o.s. for saying his problem with his seat wasn't handled properly. He may have sounded a little unappriciative, but was he supposed to be happy with something that hasn't met his expectations? Would you sound appriciative if you had a bunch of problems with something you paid even 500 for? Probably not, and as a person who bought my esv used i think it is very unfair to say he should have bought new. New depriciates very rapidly and in my opinion isn't a good investment, although if i had more money i would love to own brand new, but has nothing to do with a machine that is still under warranty. Some even went so far as to say he drives like he's in nascar or something which further blows my mind as you have no idea how this person drives. Would you assume that me being 25, i would also blow the doors off my 03 esv or would you come to the conclusion that because we are young an escalade would be a dream car for us and we would in fact baby our trucks, perhaps more than a middle aged person who has had more vehicles and doesn't value or look at his escalade with the same dreamy eyes as someone more youthful would? I think you get my point, and perhaps an apology is owed to a young person who can't help the fact that he/she is young and being attacked by people who can't help the fact that they are older who can't help the fact that we all own a bad ass car that can't help the fact its really cool.
thanks if your still reading this.

I think this kid could care less what our input is on his matter. The fact that he got on here, starting a useless thread that just states his opinion about GM. Pretty much says, its GM's fault that he bought an Escalade.

Making more use of a NEW TOPIC would be something more along the lines of... I took my Escalade into the dealer to get an oil change, when I was driving out of the parking lot my motor blew because they forgot to add OIL!! Don't go to John Doe's Cadillac Dealership because they suck!!

Gotta go!

He linked to his MySpace profile in another topic on these forums. A quick click on that combined with his comment about offroading, it's pretty clear he doesn't "baby" his truck, regardless of how stereotypical and presumptuous that may seem. I'm sorry if my comments offended you as you seem to be one that values and appreciates your vehicle - kudos to you for that. My opinion on this particular matter, however, stands... I feel no sympathy for those who abuse their vehicle and then come on a public message board, insulting an entire userbase and attacking a manufacturer for things likely beyond said manufacturer's control.

As for new vs used: Personally, I don't care if it's new, used or even salvaged. He made it a point to indicate he didn't buy it used and paid nearly $60k for it... I was merely pointing out the unlikelihood of that being true. Splitting hairs? Perhaps, but credibility is important in my book and the innocent victim hat is a bit difficult to wear when you start a topic like this.

I'm not a blindly loyal GM advocate by any means. I have several issues with my new ESV and after spending that much on a vehicle, I'm thoroughly disappointed in the oversights and problems, especially given my history with GM. I sympathize with anyone in a similar situation - it's a frustrating feeling. I also bought it brand new only weeks ago and do not abuse the vehicle so I can be sure the issues aren't a result of my mistreatment.

Do I think he deserves a broken vehicle? No, of course not and I don't doubt he's upset. I'm merely saying he shouldn't be surprised, much less feel entitled to complain in such a manner. If the trans was screwed and check engine light on prior to beating on it, my apologies to the original poster and I retract everything I've said. Otherwise, the point stands - buy a Corvette if you want to race. Buy a Hummer or Jeep if you want to off-road. Buy an Escalade and do both if you want, just don't complain when things go awry.

It's late. I digress. :)
