Check it out here. (http://www.forbes.com/2006/11/22/fastest-cars-american-forbeslife-vehicles-cx_dl_1127speed_slide_5.html?thisSpeed=3000)

The other two V cars are tied for 10th.

Cool!

But, how can I get it to linger a little longer so I can read the thing?

There's a slide handle to slow it down. The pages went flying by until I noticed the handle. 9th, not too bad.

Which helps reinforce that the article is fouled. Where's a standard Corvette with the LS2 ? Not faster than an Jeep SRT-8 ? Or for that matter where's any of the AMG MBs or BMW M5? Certainly faster than a stock CTS-V. Nice pics of some nice cars but the ranking means squat in most cases.

Last time I checked a Corvette with an LS2 was built in the U.S.

:hmm: Last time I checked it was too. Also last time I checked I was quoting you refering to a Benz and a Bimmer.

No worries, just having some fun.....

No worries, the car with a name like Panoz Esperante had me thinking they jumped off continent. As I looked I see that is in the U.S. But I still can't accept a premise that a standard corvette (or z-51) couldn't be faster than a Jeep SRT-8, much less some of the others above # 10 with 6-700lbs less weight than a CTS-V.

The list is "fastest" not quickest
The SRT's list at 165 to 170 versus the V's 163

Re-set your rev limiter and speed limit and you jump ahead

What is the standard vette limited to?

I think the reason why the base Corvette is not in the list is that a "Corvette" is already in the list. I think this is the reason the other Panoz cars didn't make the list.

Don't worry, the only place the Jeep SRT-8 is faster than a Corvette is out in the farmers field.

Just a thought

I got that was the gist of the article's premise. But I would bring up again this shows lack of authenticity. The 06 and 07 CTS-Vs appear to be speed limited to 150mph via the PCM due to now coming stock with V rated tires.

So what are the SRT's doing on the list? Some BMW's are as American as Dodge anymore... :lildevil:

Couldnt they find a better picture to show off the CTS-V?

If it is for 2006 how did the GTO miss out?

Guys, look at the author of that article. It's Dan Lienert, perhaps the most car ignorant guy at Forbes. He was featured in a video someone posted here comparing the V to some German cars in which he dumped on the V. He looks about 12, and I doubt Harvard had any classes on why a car like the V would appeal to some people. His meaningless list just further emphasizes how little he know. Fastest cars? So what in a county with silly speed limits? Besides, I think 155mph in a Jeep is about the most dangerous way to drive. Now 163 in a V, on the other hand, is just good, clean fun:thumbsup:.

Anyway, I'll stop ranting now.

They took the top model in each category. Since the z06 was there, no need for the C6. Also there was no response from Ford/Saleen, so I would assume that would kick the CTS-V off the list. Plus if you have a 3-way tie for 8th, isnt that supposed to mean there is no 9th or 10th place?

Whatever, I'm glad its up there at least. Definitely the most benign looking of the vehicles.
