I just bought a set of 07 sensors for my winter rims off of Ebay. My question is: Can I get them installed at any tire shop or do they need to be "linked" to my Lade at the Caddy dealer? If they need to be linked is that a process I can do?
Thanks for the help!

you can have the sensors installed anywhere, but the sensors have to be paired with the vehicle so that the car knows the position of each sensor, i'm not sure if that can be done at a wheel/tire place. What the dealership does is mount the wheels/tires/sensors on the vehicle, then goes into the dash menu that says "relearn tire position", then starting from the front left tire they use a transmitter and hold it to each sensor until the horn beeps confirming the vehicle has learned that sensors position, then front right, then rear right, then rear left
I would love to hear more about this. Does anyone know how to enter the Menu "relearn the tire positions"?

its in your owners manual.
Tire Pressure Sensor Learn
Tools Required
J-46079 Tire Pressure Monitor Diagnostic Tool
TPM Learn Mode Description
The tire pressure monitor (TPM) system uses the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR), exterior lamp switch, 4 RF transmitting pressure sensors and the serial data circuit to perform the TPM learn mode functions. The sensor learn procedure must be performed after every tire rotation, RCDLR replacement, or sensor replacement. Once the TPM learn mode has been enabled, each of the sensor's unique identification (ID) codes can be learned in to the RCDLR's memory. When a sensor ID has been learned, the RCDLR sends a serial data message to the BCM to sound a horn chirp. This verifies the sensor has transmitted its ID and the RCDLR has received and learned it. The RCDLR must learn the sensor Ids in the proper order to determine correct sensor location. The first learned ID is assigned to the left front location, the second to right front, the third to right rear and the fourth to left rear.
Sensor Functions using pressure increase/decrease method
Each sensor takes a pressure measurement sample once every 30 seconds while in stationary mode. If the tire pressure increases, or decreases by more than 1.2 psi from the last transmitted pressure, another measurement will occur immediately to verify the change in pressure. If a pressure change has indeed occurred, the sensor transmits in re-measure mode. When the RCDLR receives a re-measure mode transmission while in TPM learn mode, it will assign that sensor's ID to the location on the vehicle relative to the order in which it was learned.
Sensor functions using J-46079
Each sensor has an internal low frequency (LF) coil. When the J-46079 is used in activate mode it produces an LF transmission that activates the sensor. The sensor responds to a LF activation by transmitting in learn mode. When the RCDLR receives a learn mode transmission while in TPM learn mode, it will assign that sensor's ID to the location on the vehicle relative to the order in which it was learned.
TPM Learn Mode Cancellation
The learn mode will cancel if more than 2 minutes have passed and no sensor have been learned, or if more than 5 minutes has passed for the entire procedure. If the learn mode is canceled before any Ids are learned, the RCDLR will remember all previously stored Ids and their locations. As soon as the RCDLR learns the first ID, all other Ids are erased from the RCDLR's memory.
Important: Before proceeding with the steps below, ensure that no other sensor learn procedure is being performed simultaneously, or that tire pressures are not being adjusted on a TPM equipped vehicle within close proximity.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Apply the parking brake.
Important: If the learn mode cannot be enabled, ensure the TPM system is enabled in the RCDLR. Refer to Control Module Setup .
Using the driver information center (DIC), press the vehicle information button until the RELEARN TIRE POSITIONS message displays. If your vehicle does not have the DIC buttons, press the trip odometer reset stem located on the instrument panel cluster until the RELEARN TIRE POSITIONS message displays. If your vehicle has the DIC buttons, press the set/reset button. The horn will sound twice to indicate the TPMs receiver is ready, and the TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message will display. If your vehicle does not have the DIC buttons, press and hold the trip odometer reset stem until the horn chirps twice and the TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message is displayed.
Alternate method: Simultaneously press the keyless entry transmitters lock and unlock buttons until a horn chirp sounds or use the scan tool and select Special Functions/Sensor Learn Mode Enable/Enable soft key. A horn chirp will sound indication the mode has been enabled.
Caution: Over inflating tires may cause personal injury or damage to the tires and wheels. When increasing tire pressure do not exceed the maximum inflation pressure as noted on the tire sidewall.
Starting with the left front tire, hold the antenna of the J-46079 against the tire sidewall close to the wheel rim at the valve stem location then press and release the activate button and wait for a horn chirp, or increase/decrease the tire pressure for 8-10 seconds then wait for a horn chirp. The horn chirp may occur before the 8-10 second pressure increase/decrease time period has been reached, or up to 30 seconds after the 8-10 second pressure increase/decrease time period has been reached.
After the horn chirp has sounded, proceed as in step 4 for the next 3 sensors in the following order:
• Right front
• Right rear
• Left rear
After the LR sensor has been learned, turn OFF the ignition to exit the learn mode.
After the learn mode has been exited, adjust all tire pressures to the recommended PSI. Refer to Label - Vehicle Certification, Tire Place Card, Anti-Theft and Service Parts ID .
Hcvone,
Good info! My primary concern now is where are the receiver(s) for the system? Is it 4 separate receiver/antennas? Or one central unit, one central antenna? I only ask this because I am having issues with my 07 EXT and the tire pressure system. In a recent post, I described my issue with the "service tire monitor system". Basically, the very same wheels and tires that were on my 2005 EXT that displayed no issues with the TPMS and I have problems on the 07. After taking it to the dealership, they explained to me that my wheels are too thick!?! I’m calling BS on this. My immediate thoughts are that the change in the 07 TPMS system is what’s causing the issue. So... I’m on a mission to find an answer how to resolve the receiver fault.
