Yesterday I changed the export code to my 99 Deville to 4, which is like saudi arabia or something. Man I'd hate to buy a car from there and not know how to change the code. I got on the highway to see what happens and it is ridiculous. At about 70mph, the DIC starts flashing vehicle overspeed. It let me go to 80 and then some other stuff popped up like EXP or something like that. It was retared. I pulled over on the highway shoulder to change it back to US. After that it was fine.
Well, 70MPH converts to a little over 112KPH. When you exceeded that I assume the car warned of the overspeed since the computer was fooled and didn't shut off the fuel. At 80MPH it probably really freaked out...
Your right those export id's are a pain in the drain. On my Deville I had to change the export code to the US to get rid of it. I have heard though, and I have not had time to try it, but changing the export id to the Swedish or German ids, will change your DRL, and increase your speed limiter.
^^ Oh...I didn't follow it because my car is ODBI.
