I want to buy a trailer with electric brakes and not surge, is there a plug in a 2002 ext to plug a brake controller for the harness I was told that its should be there by the seller of the trailer I havent found it though. Does anyone know if there is a harness around the glove box ?

Most trucks do not come standard with an electric brakes controller. This is probably something you need to have added by the dealership. I know that even with a towing package on my buddy's car he still had to have them set it up to haul a big trailer with electric brakes.

Yes it is there, you should have a harness pigtail that came with the truck. You remove a cover by the left front kickpanel under the dash--the upper left socket is for this connector, then you just butt connect it to whatever brake controller you buy. If you do not have a harness, I can get one for you. Let me know how it turns out..........Supercrew632

I'll second that, weel at least the existence of the pigtail and socket to plug into. When I bought mine, it didn't have the pitail (used). I told the dealer I wanted that pigtail and he found one in another truck and gave it to me. It plugs in exactly as noted above. The one I got had a placard attached that actually showed a picture of where to plug it in. I used a standard 7 pin plug and a standard brake. No problems towing also.
