I sold my Catera to my wife's friend about 2 years ago. About a week ago the car burned to the ground. She said she saw a huge spark from the steering wheel earlier in the morning. Was there a recall for this and how can I find ALL recalls for this car?

I also want to say thanks for all the help I was given when I first got my Catera. You guys really know your stuff.

Thanks guardian. I don't find that recall but does anyone know of a recall that involves replacing the ignition cylinder? Thanks.

I don't think it's a recall but a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) talking about how the key may be hard to remove from the ignition cylinder. It gives replacement instructions. Actually, I'm almost positive it's not a recall.

The only recalls I see listed for '97 Catera are:

97047 (Canada only)
02018
01037
02041
00042A
Two of those regard the same system, none are related to anything to do with the the steering wheel or ignition switch.

"spark from the steering wheel" is pretty vague.
Could have been a static discharge for all we know.
