Rick186 11-20-06, 05:13 PM Wow!
Beautiful car. Silver? Lovely.
I wish I could get it for my wife but the shipping costs would approach 2 large to get it to New England.
So it has virtually zero trunk space. So what? Propane burns so clean that motor should be damn near showroom, inside. And we'll use my FWB for long trips and wife can put groceries in the back seat of "her" Cadillac.
Too bad it wasn't on eBay earlier so Elias could have talked his relative into getting the Cadillac rather than what he ended up with.
When the company I worked for insured propane dealers, they usually had at least a few propane-powered delivery trucks and they had ridiculously high mileage on them yet ran as if new.
Propane almost never contaminates the lower parts of the motor, keeping the oil like new for a long time and ensuring almost zero carbon to scratch the innards of the motor.
Screw diesel. Propane is the way to go for long engine life. lochenjons 11-20-06, 06:05 PM what a beautiful car! I'm thinking of getting my caddy repainted thanks to all the dings and scratches and they quoted me something like 800... not bad not bad Benzilla 11-20-06, 06:39 PM Where did you get a quote? And how high quality is it supposed to be? I ask because I'm planning on getting my '79 repainted. 90Brougham350 11-20-06, 07:16 PM Paint is one of those things where you get what you pay for. I don't want to sound like a wet blanket, but an $800 paint job will be full of sags and orange peel, and wont be done with quality material. Benzilla 11-20-06, 07:27 PM Yeah, that's what the last owners of my '79 did, the rear quarter panel has sags along almost all the edges, no orange peel, but not perfect. However I do know of a place near me that does high quality work for about $1,000. I've seen their work, it's amazing. davesdeville 11-20-06, 10:20 PM Paint is one of those things where you get what you pay for. This is true to some extent. Talk to enough people in your town and you can get good work done for a good deal.. Rick186 11-20-06, 11:04 PM Boyoboyoboy! I musta' been screwed! And without a kiss!!:alchi:
I had my 1979 Cordoba repainted in 1990, matching the rarest of rare metallic blue colors in the Mopar book. I forget the fancy name, but I only saw the same color once in the years I had the car.
Anyhow - - - the excellent paint job - no body work - full repaint and clearcoat plus the car was stripped, not masked, set me back $2,400.00.
Sure the car gleamed like it just left the factory, but as I see the comments above, I wonder . . .:crybaby: The Ape Man 11-21-06, 09:32 PM Stretch Barracuda. Cadillac_Fan 11-22-06, 02:38 PM It's a nice concept - I'm not against progressive ideas for alternative fuels, yet if that C3H8 tank connection took a dump, I can only imagine the consequences of hitting the remote trunk release with a trunk filled with propane - it would leave a respectable crater where the DeVille was once parked. Rick186 11-23-06, 12:48 AM If the tank was installed in accordance with N.F.P.A. #58, the likelihood of the tank pulling a sneaky is remote.
Even in a whopper of a rear-end collision, all lines should have excess flow valves, so if a line is broken, the piddly amount of gas (or liquid ) released would be very minimal. Benzilla 11-23-06, 12:59 AM I like the car, not the propane-in-the-ass.
To me, taking the gas out of a caddy is almost like ripping off the hood ornament, or cutting off a guy's..... | |
