Bought this '79 Sedan deVille d'elegance yesterday. The car has not been driven on the road in quite some time. It has 126,000 km on it. oil is full and clean. I paid $150.00 Canadian for it. I don't know if I'm going to fix it up, sell it or put the 425 in my '89 with the horrible 307.

Will the '89's 4 speed auto w/ overdrive bolt up to this 425? because it works beautifully. and what are the differences in the rear ends in these two cars? and what will I need motor mount wise to do the engine switch? any suggestions? would anyone need any parts if I was to part this car?

EDIT: the guy gad the battery cables labeled wrong. Switched them, car started and ran BEAUTIFULLY for new battery. drives, shifts, stops excellent. motor sounds so good. lots of pick up. all options work except the drivers power seat. AC has been converted and works nicely. that's all for now.

here are some pictures:

Ooooo shes nice, and a steal at that price! Won't take much money or effort to get her beautifiul again! 1979 is one of my favorite years for Cadillac.

Not a bad looking car for $150. It's the same color as my '79 SDV. If you do part it, I'd like some interior parts. The dash and trim looks to be in decent shape.

I love the d'elegance carpets.

That's a nice caddy, why would you wanna take it apart? There's still a lot of life there just waiting to be resurrected, the rust isn't that bad.

Seriously. It will look 100% better once all the JC Whitney shlock is gone.

Right on! This thing is a diamond in the rough find, for the price. A little bit of work and this thing will be just gorgeous!

If you have the money, go ahead and fix it. It looks like it would take some serious cash though. You hate to see these deteriorate to this level, but at least it still runs good, and you can't beat the price.

Kinda reminds me of Rick's 79 when he first got it.
