alright i got mine fixed. i went to kragen to find a replacement bulb. they didnt have anything like it. so i went across the street to radioshack and found something similar. part # 272-1092 is what you want.

first step to accessing the bulb is rmoving the knob and cover to manual closing of the sunroof.
next pull on the plastic to seperate it from the trim on ceiling.
next seperate the circular opening diagram from the rest of the plastic.
then seperate the circular diagram from the metal peice and remove it.
this is what you are left with. the hole on the right is where the bulb goes.
cut the length of the new bulb to match the old bulb and insert it into the hole.
thats all there is to it. now just reassemble.

its pretty easy to do. you have to pull pretty hard on the plastic pieces sometimes to the point of where it sounds like things are breaking, but nothing does. any questions feel free to ask.

Great post Todd, really appreciate the step by step instructions. What kind of tools did you use? Thx for the heads up.

i used a flat head screwdriver to aid in getting the plastic seperated from the trim and putting it back together. i used needle nose pliers to seperate the circular diagram from the metal peice. and i also used wire cutters to cut the light to the correct length.

here it is all lit up.

Looks great Todd, wish I was as fortunate. I followed your steps and It wasn't hard, but the bulbs won't work. I tried both of them that came in the
Radio Shack package. I did notice the wires are a lot thicker on the original bulb. Looks like I'm going to have to pay a visit to the Caddy Stealership. I went to a couple of auto parts stores and they didn't have it. Wish i could get it to work.

yes the wires are thicker on the original. strange it didnt work for you. did you make sure the wires on the bulb weren't touching? if you look in the socket the bulb goes into, it should be divided in half by a plastic barrier. it seperates positive and negative. make you have one wire in each half of the socket and make sure they arent touching.

You must have great eyesight, because I didn't see anything that separated
the wires. I just saw a hole in the middle, with long notches on either side.
Might give it another try tommorow, got frustrated and quit. Is there another type of bulb that might work? Do the wires go in the notches that are on each side of the hole? Trying to figure it out, because I tried numerous
times putting it in, and when I turned on the lights, it still didn't work. The wires on the new bulb are real flimsy
and bend real easy, I had to pull the bulb out and straighten out the wires. Also, is there a piece of wire that
extends out of the center of the hole that the bulb goes in? From one of the pictures it looks like a wire that
connects over the slots on each side of the hole. Thx Man.

there arent any other bulbs that i know of that would work as well. im sure there are tons though, i just dont know of them. yes, the wires go in the notches on either side of the hole. i didnt see any wire extending out of the hole where the bulb goes. also you dont have to turn on the lights to see if the sunroof dial light works. it should come on all the time.

Thx for the heads up Todd, but I just ordered the correct bulb from Cadillac for $3.95. I just didnt like how flimsy the wires were on the Radio Shack bulbs.
Glad you got yours to work though. When it comes in I'll give you a shout if it worked or not. Thx again.
