Hello, I have a 1987 Fleetwood Brougham. Long story short: I accidentally dropped a license plate screw in the cigarette lighter hole. It made a big spark and after I got the screw out I realized that my radio wasn't working. When you use the power knob to turn the radio on and off you can still hear a click in the speakers but there is no display on the screen and all you hear is "dead air" noise in the speakers not even static. Alot of people said that I had blown a fuse which seemed reasonable so I had a car savy friend look at the fusebox. He told me that none of the fuses looked blown at all. So thats where I'm at now and I don't know what to try next. Someone had mentioned that maybe there are fuses under the hood as well and that I may have blown a "main fuse" but it's all greek to me. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I'm sure you know how bad it is to drive around without any radio....I'm losing my mind! Thanks in advance guys. -Joe

Where did he look? There's another fuse box under the passenger side of the dash too...

He looked under the lower left of the instrument panel on the drivers side. Where is the other fuse box located? Could you please give instructions on how to access it? Thanks a million! -joe

Hmm, I forget where it is exactly, they mounted it two different ways. I'll move your thread to the RWD section so someone with the same car can help you out!

Take another look at the driver's side fuse box. The one which pops will say BODY. This happens all the time when people drop change into the lighter. These fuse's condition are tricky to see sometimes. In short, they suck. Pardon the pun. Best way to check them is with a test lamp with a pointed probe. The fuses have a small slot in each side of the top for this purpose. Ground one end of the test light to a known good ground like the ignition key surround and probe both sides of the suspected fuse. It's possible that you took out a fusible link which is near the starter B+ post but that would only happen if the thing has had a hard life like when some "mechanic" let the started hang from it. Having a shop manual would give you the exact answer in a short time. Pardon the pun again. Good luck.
