I dont have the money for a new or used engine but I did find a bare block for 650 I wondering should I get this?

$650? You can buy a whole engine for that.

You shouldn't need to spend more than about $50-100 for a good block. Call the local caddy dealerships for warranty pulls.

We want pics. We don't believe that N* blocks crack under normal conditions. Or at least I don't

A block weighs at most what, 100#? You can ship one across country for about $100.

Here's info on one I found after a search on car-part.com:

1997 Engine Block Cadillac Eldorado RUNNING CORE 86K MILES 34596 $200 APR USA-CO(Colorado-Springs) 1-888-603-7103

ill try to get pics but my camera isn't working that well I would have it shipped but I need it pronto as I took this vacation just to do the Hg job and am running out of time and money + I work about 15 miles from home cant do twithout a car. if the crack would have been a Lil smaller I would have jb welded the sucker up but it goes into one of the oil return tubes that are cast into the block. I do believe the block I found is a short block i will double check that tomorrow. bad thing is I'm only 22, 23 day after thanksgiving and as most people my age don't have much funds I will probably have to overdraft and pawn my sound system to get the money for the block :crying:

If you can find a useable block great but if it has to be rebuilt keep looking. The parts are expensive. If you found one needed HG's that would be OK. Stay away from one needing anything in the lower end unless you get a lot of money to spend on it.

Have you checked on getting that one welded?

I thought about getting it welded But I dont think that it can be done since the crack goes along the oil return passage.

I can't see it but...why not?

Wow I didn't know this would happen under normal conditions. Pics if you can.

I have seen some Northstar engines a while ago on the local Craiglists for under $1,000, but with about 140,000 miles. I would say ask the dealers by you for any blocks.
