Hey everyone, what's your most fond Cadillac related memory?

For me it was test driving a '93 Fleetwood Brougham and while at a red light, I raced a kid similar in age to me in a souped up Hundai Tiberant and I left him looking at a pair of vertically running taillights and a hell of a lot of exhaust. :lildevil:

probably the time i took it to trade it in to orlando on a 96 g20 (replcemnt for the car that was destoryed in alaska), it was first time i had the caddy on the interstate , let alone above 60mph (75-80) .....

never the less to say the caddy came back home with me ... me and gladys (the caddy) have been good friends ever since

even tonight she helped me out , had a guy that got mad when i passed him (running 40 in a 55 zone) , he tried to chase me down with his S10 and a carpenters level, weaponless and no cell phone i had to run , for the first time the caddy saw its speed limiter (indicated 109 mph)

Careful Stone, you're gonna hurt yourself, or worse, Gladys! LOL!

Most fond memory, putting plates on it and driving it after 12 years of my dad not letting me touch the darn thing. Oh ya, and embarrassing some dumbass the other day in an older Supra and a bazooka muffler that sounded like this... :farting:

Just driving it home from the lot. Made me feel like a millionaire. Oh wait, the most fondest would have to be me driving my Grandmother around in it...she loves it, but never had been in one before her own grandson got one!

O.K., I will share but it's probably going to make me tear up.

I learned how to drive in my Dad's 72 DeVille. He took me out on the back roads of Northern Indiana at the age of 14 and spent 2 hours with me teaching me how to handle that beast. The next year I was a Freshman in High School. I was 15 years old and didn't have my learners permit yet. I was dating a Senior, so I got to go to the High School Senior Prom. I expected my Dad to drive us over to the school and pick us up. I came downstairs dressed in my Tux and my Dad handed me the keys to the Caddy and told me to have a great night.
It was.
I lost my Father 5 years ago. I will never forget his Love and Generosity.
I miss him so much.

Maybe you will enjoy this one... my best experience was driving my caddy from Puebla city (60 miles south of Mexico City) all the way to Niagara Falls, Canada. The route included San Antonio, New Orleans, Memphis, (yes I went to Graceland) Nashville, where, lucky me, the mighty Stones were giving a concert (I stood 40 ft away from Mick), Williamsburg, DC, Philly, and finally NIagara Falls... the first day alone I did 1000 miles (in Mexico you can drive as fast as you want) and I got to know a lot of excellent people and nice places...
Now I have more than a hundred pictures and plenty of good memories about that trip. If I have the chance, I'll do the east - west trip... in the same caddy.

That is a great story.
your dad seemed like a very good man, glad to see that he loved you that much to give you his baby his other baby even though you didn't have a permit. Its always good to reflect on the good memories of those who past from time to time.

My best memory of my caddy,
Has to be with my old man the first day i got it when i drove it home and pulled into the garage he helped me shine her up for 2 hours then we took it out for a nice cruise and he treated me to dinner. When we got home he let me pull it into the garage and keep it there :worship: OVERNIGHT that has been the first time that any other car/truck has been in the garage since i can remember that wasn't HIS my mom even gets the driveway

Being I got my 1st caddy at 17....I have many fond or should I say fondeled memories but nobody here wants to hear about firm teenage breasts, etc so I will skip that.

We used to eat at White Castle about every night. I had this 67 conv that was so rotted it had no floors, etc. My friend dissed us and went to a party in SeaSide, NJ without us so we went to the castle and FILLED my trunk with garbage from their garbage cans. We then went to his house and "whited" his entire front yard with garbage. Took him all day to clean it up, should have seen the pile of bags the next day.

Well he got his revenge in a roundabout way. The next day or so we had 2 cases of Coors in a cooler in the trunk. I went to open the trunk and the key just spun....can't have that so I climbed in behind the rear seat with a pair of vise-grips and proceeded to remove the trunk lock. By the time that trunk opened I was green from the stench and heat in that trunk. Imagine what a trunk of a black car in August that had a ton of white castle garbage smells like a couple days later:bighead:

The same guy we "whited" had a 67 goat and we raced over the bridge one night. He passed me and I was pinned on 120. I then passed him.....not real smart doing 130 in a POS with snow tires but hey I was 17 or so. I later blew the engine and traded it for a pack of cigarettes.:canttalk:

wow.... these are all great stories.... I have many memories with my Cad, adn I only had her for 7 months.... for this reason, and others I am never, ever going to get rid of the car.... it is my first car, I have done alot of work on her that, in a few cases, i didn't know what I was doing, but it worked out etc.... some crazy/stupid things I did while driving.... the day at KOA campground (where I worked last year) where the power went out, and they needed a way to get all the ice cream and frozen food from the store to the snack bar which had a generator... and my boss said it will take too long by hand.... she looked at me, and was like, hey Rick, you got that Caddy..... back that up, we'll load the trunk... I did, it was cool. Also times when I pushed the DeVille to it's limits... and beyond (big older luxury cars that were not design for handling.... don't handle well....at high speeds....) the countless ricers that I beat really bad at stop lights... the witnising a guy on a Harley hit a deer and dump the bike on a mountian road doing 60mph (he was in front of me) then the stupid things that I need to forget.... "off roading" the car throught he orchards right next to my house (not like hitting treest, but there are gravel paths) doing 360's in a grass field etc.... not too cool memories.....that's what the winter car is for :D ... then at Lebannon when I raced her.... the guy came over the PA system and said "Next up we have a Toyota and a........Cadillac!?!?!?!?!?" good times good times.....

.... so far I havn't "scored" in the Cad yet :D I suppose I should get a girlfriend first :D (I know, it's sad..... believe it or not, I have not had a gf yet.... ok, when you stop laughing, you may countine with the thread)

That 67 was a hoot....had 11 people in it with the top UP. Used to blow about a qt of steering fluid every couple days. Used to run drain oil in it. You could almost tell where I went by following the oil drips. The front fender was "made" with Brillo pads and bondo, what a sight. Looked good from 10' away. Damn car did mean burnouts and you could hit a shopping cart at like 30mph and MAYBE break a headlight. Fudge that shopping cart up beyond recognition....if not we'd back over it.

:drinker Yeah we had a rough night and I parked the car in the yard and woke up the next morning 1/2 naked with my girlfriend. We got up and were walking inside the house(parents were away for the weekend) and the door flew open and my buddy crawled out of the backseat....nobody EVER asked or said a thing about it. I don't think anyone remembered.

I only have one. Coasting it down the hill to my school to work on it. But within that 5-10 min it was great. Smooth all the way down on a late winter night with the window down. (doesn't get very cold here not under 55). My friend drove in front of me to set the lights off so i'd have all greens and when we got down to the school he was like "i kept looking in the rear view mirror and i thought i was being chased by a bunch of mafia guys in a huge caddy. It looks so evil at night" That's my story. WOO HOOO

Well, many of my memories were fond and involved fondling. Both in my '89 sedan deville and '90 deville hearse made by Superior, usually in a graveyard:devillaug. Man i miss that car, and that girl. haha. Havent yet "christened" the '96SLS or '69 deville... in time:cool:. Nuff o' that.
Actually all moments driving a Caddy are wonderful moments. I really enjoyed all the reaction I would get driving my hearse, (possitive and negative, it was all great) especially with the fake foot hanging out of the back. I was on the freeway one time, almost to my exit, when this buick with two 50-something couples speeds up next to me just so each of them could smile and shoot me a thumbs up:2thumbs:. And all the people who wanted to race, that car was FAST even though it only had the 4.5PFI and extra body weight. It handled great in the snow too, i drove home from 'that girl's' house near Detroit to my place near Lansing (about 80mi) one night at about 1AM in near blizzard conditions doing 80, even around curves (at a more dumb time in my life) and it was like you couldnt even tell there was snow and slush and water and ice on the road, it was great! And people loved to see a big white hearse do parking brake enduced 360s in a snow covered parking lot:halo:
Each time i step on the N* in my '96 i get a great big smile on my face, no one ever wants to race though:want:. Well thats about all ive got, i love spending time with my caddys, cleaning, waxing, driving, whatever, its zen-like for me, i get into that zone, and thats all that matters. I hope you all continue to have great experiences in your cadillacs!

skipping school to buy my 92 sedan deville- then driving 45min to get it home, dusting off ricers and other lesser cars at the stoplights, burying the needle on backstreets, doing 97 in a 70 zone coming back from the casino after i just won $140 in blackjack, my girlfriends' compliments on the car, having friends in my car with me, just cruisin around.

My first favorite moment was when I got my first Caddy. A 1993 ETC. I got it from Al Serra in Grand Blanc, MI and tore down I-75 back to Saginaw at 95mph. Needless to say the wife and I were pleased and had smiles as wide as the equator.
Second moment was when I got my Vogues and 100 spokes for my 1993 Deville and put them on myself. I rode around all day turning corners real slow so everyone could catch the Bling and get blinded. I had to cruise the park swangin and bangin. ahh brings back memories.

Hmmmm mine is probably from my old 'lade. It isn't as good as yours though, we were driving it home from having a meal, along a pretty twisty back road, I was at the wheel. We came around a corner at maybe 50-60... and in front of us was a broken down Volvo on the road, i was going too fast to stop or pass it, being a bendy piece of road, i took off over a crest on the corner and landed in a farmers feild. I stopped the car and got out and took some deep breaths... got back in and reversed it out of the feiled and drove it home..... The Volvo driver just looked at us in amazment as we reversed back onto the road and passsed him and continued, the next day i took it to a mechanic he said that there was NO problems or damage to the car. I was very pleased at that :D

BTW my first car was a 1974 Ford Cortina. My that was a errible car, it used to stop running frequently, but that was more of a reason to park up for the night ;)

My first experience with a Caddy was when I was about 14 yrs. old I got to wash my Dad's new Fleetwood,I drove the car down to a beach access road with my little brother in the car to "dry it it off". I remember looking at the speedometer as I went over a wooden bridge and it was over one hundred mph. Scares me to think about it now but at the time you can imagine what a thrill it was. Just glad we made it with no casualties.

Having had a lot of Cadillacs,I naturally have a lot of Cadillac memories! I bought my first Cadillac (A '73 Eldorado, hence my name!) at age 16 so I have a ton of great memories: The day I bought the car (Friday,August 10,1979) driving her home and washing and waxing her. Going to the Drive In movie with my girlfriend (We never watched an entire movie :) ) Cruising up Main Street and down Broadway on the weekends with my friends. Those were great days...

My fondest memory was when my fuel sensor solenoid went out, while i was doing 50MPH, going down a hill, in rush hour traffic:lildevil:. Of course, my power brakes and power steering also went out, as is normal behavior when the engine dies.... Oh, did i mention that my cell phone hadn't been charged up and the battery was dead:bonkers:. So there I was, broke down in the middle of a major city street, at the bottom of a hill, with me just standing there on the sidewalk looking like an idiot. Ahhh, memories...

well my gas gauge used to not work (after getin carb rehaul, works when the lights are off..weird) and i was prone to running out of gas in my 79.

well one day, was driving and was meaning to take a left onto a busy highway, when i ran out of gas not in the middle of the intersection, but in front of the pack wanting to get on the highway. id say about 100-200 cars passed me, it was a 2 lane road/turn. a few honked and gave me stink eyes, and i just flipped them off, those *******s. well a few friends stopped by, and luckily, there was a gas station 10 feet away. i gave him my debit card, told him the pin, said "get me a 3 gallon jug, this thing needs 2 gallons to actually get to the pump". he got the 1 gallon...and after 3 refills got the baby started..and went to crank it again, and it died. the battery went out. at this point...im just like 'oh..my..god'. so the cops came. because someone thought 'oh hey look at this jerk with no gas..ill just call the cops'.

the cop goes "we need to get you to a shouldar. i can make the lights green, and ill just push my bumber against your back bumper till you get to the side"
i go, "oh hell no, you're not gonna ram my car with your suv"
"ill have to give you a ticket than."
"ok ill push it myself"

at this point my friends left because they had to work and thought i was all right. so i push a 79 coupe deville. a 2 ton plus masterpeice, raining, for 5 minutes while 100's of people look on. a few honked, i flipped them off in front of a cop, a few guys cheered on, and as soon as i got it on the shouldar, called my brother to drive me to shucks to get a new battery, and damnit, a new alternator. another cop was steering and said how nice i upkeep the car.

...i still love the beast..

isnt always the troublesome stories that are the best?

I dont really have any. Only once in my life have I been in a Cadillac. Odd that I spend so much time on this forum.

I was 16, and a friend of mine drove a blue early 90s Deville. First thing I said when I got in was "Whoa... nice car!" There were buttons all over the place and digital indicators for everything. The ride quality was spectacular. I was accustomed to smaller Japanese cars my parents always bought (except for their Benz) with choppy rides and few creature comforts.

Since then I've had a fondness for the brand.

Jesda, why not go ahead and get one. Nothing new or anything, but surely you could afford an old-school Caddy from the late 70s/80s:rolleyes:. I mean, I know you love your Q, and that's understandable, since I like Infiniti too, especially that G35 coupe, but you still need a 'Lac though:cool:

I have two. lol.

The first one was back when I was really young. My uncle owned his own business. When he was young he always wanted a Cadillac. So when he got some cash he bought one. I don't even know what kind it was or anything. I saw it once. I was probably 5. I remember it being white. That's all. But I looked it it in awe. I remember asking my dad "Dad, what's that?" He said "It's a Cadillac. It's his pride and joy. Don't touch it!" I just remember being this little kid standing next to this enormous car and thinking that anyone who had one must be a millionaire. It just looked to grand and spectacular.

The other one was after I got mine. My grandma told every one of her neighbors that her grandson bought a Cadillac. So they were all excited becasue they were like all 80. lol. But she absolutely loved the car. When she saw it for the first tiem she said "That's gorgeous!"

That's all I have...

Long live the classic Cadillacs!

My '89 cost two grand. But thus far, I've owned it for under rwo months and have put another 1,500 or so into it and it still isn't working properly. Let's hear it for 80's GM's.

I guess mine would be the time I cut the exhaust off my 77 deville just pass the Y pipe. Me and my brother drove it down to the autoparts store just to look around and when we left some guy had just gone in the store but left His kids in the SUV they were all about 7 or 8 I turned and look a the kid sitting in the front right as I started it up he slung his head around and the look on his face was priceless so as I backed out all the doors on that thing oppened up and they were hangin out the sides so as I left the lot I had to just let the hamer down you could tell they had never heard a real V8 had some good times that night including the best compliment I've ever had on that car which it was from a ricer I passed up and I quote "Damn, that's the best sounding Cadillac I've ever heard" good times
