Thank goodness for insurance. He can just get a new one.

Had to be something the stealer did when they installed the exhaust. The fire looked like it was underneath it, in the back. I don't think there was any need to drown it or rip it open with an axe. It probably would've been salvagable if they had simply concentrated on where the fire was.

But, that's what insurance is for. They're not going to want to pay though and will probably point to the aftermarket exhaust as a reason why they shouldn't.

Kind of makes me sad seeing as how I work in a place that puts the C6 Z06's right next to God...

Could be. I'm not sure if a dealer would install an aftermarket exhaust kit.. I don't remember reading that in his post, but I could have skipped it, seeing as how I skimmed the article.

Well, it would appear at least the motor is alright, and hopefully the tranny. If an LS7 had burned up, I'd be crying right now!

We actually had one of those come into the dealer I work at yesterday. It came in for a small computer related problem. It was in and out in 5 minutes, not enough time to capture a pic.. :( But it was dark blue, with the black and red leather seats.

"passed me. I asked if he was beating it or what? He said no, but the dealer recently installed a new exhaust on the car. I was like "ooohhhhh"! Just then"

dealers will install corsas on caddys..
wouldnt doubt that they would install a corsa on a vette

If somebody purchases an aftermarket exhaust at the dealer I work at, we'll sublet it to a vendor that specializes in aftermarket parts to have it installed.

cosa is a bolt on experiance tho
most dealers outsouce cuz they dont have the tools to cut the exaust or the bend it
hence why corsa is convered under the cars warrenty and doesnt void it

Hmmm.. I'm not sure why we sublet it to someone else... Maybe that brand of exhaust voids the warranty, or we don't have the tools.... I don't know. I'll have to ask my manager on Tuesday.

if you had a pipe bender
youd know
hard to miss it
i have one at my shop
its how i built my exhaust and it cost me 180 bucks total for pipe mufflers and tips

Nah, I don't think we have one of those. Whenever we install an Exhaust system, we use the OEM GM replacement so it's prebent for the car.

Somebody's gonna end up in court over that....

Obviously, most of the C5 & C6 Corvettes out there are rolling around with a Borla or a Corsa cat-back on 'em.....

Glad I didn't eat my breakfast yet, when the dude in that post says "Always buy German".... yeesh, made me sick. If you wanna be broke, and take the bus to work, yeah, keep buying german, buddy....

LOL, yeah I thought that was a pretty dumb comment as well! I'll take a Corvette over any German car!

That's as poor a stereotype as the comments on the ///M3 board about the flaming Z06 being GM's fault.

Yeah I thought that was kinda arrogant too, but they're probably saying the same things about us "only buy american" sorts...

"Buy German?" LOL! I own BMWs (Hell, I own a respected BMW shop) because they are fun to drive. I don't own them because they are reliable cars, overall, they are overrated as far as reliability goes.

What they are is durable, but reliable? I am not so sure about that.

Perhaps I'm overestimating it, but maybe that was his point..?
