I went to 3 dealers, and none had the main bearing kits, not even standard, they were all discontinued. The oil pump was discontinued, but i got very lucky to find a company (T&T) who still made the pump (dealer phoned them). Nothing for the 4.9 exists. I can't find a bearing kit anywhere. What do i do now? I cannot find the service bearing kit anywhere, i found one standard size aftermarket kit for 87$ (cad) my cost. The pump already costed me 200$ (cad) and another 100 for bearings? I don't think so. Someone help me out.

Hard to believe. Try gmotors.com. They are good.

Yeah, there are a lot of douche-bag dealers out there that won't look at a car (or say the parts aren't around) if it's over 10 years old. This is likely driven by a desire to sell you a newer car. I had a similar problem getting a VATS key done...I just had to call 4 dealers...and by that time I was 45 miles away...but they didn't BS me. I'd try like HUF said and go for online. There's also www.gmpartsdirect.com and www.rockauto.com is good as well.

I have been at it rebuilding and modifying a 4.9, and I will tell you, there is nothing that is not available, but yes, you will have to look hard online, but you will find the bearings, as well as new block, modified blocks, iron, forged, etc cams, rockers, whatever!
