View Full Version : Car at dealer for Coolant Loss & Rear End. **MAD!!** Got5onit 11-01-06, 02:01 PM Well, I took my '04 V in yesterday for coolant loss and the whining rear end and received a call that my car is ready today.
1.Coolant loss - Low level warning kept popping up and I saw the coolant level drop in the resrvoir over a 3 month period(checked cold in the morning). Dealer said they ran a pressure check and found no leaks. They added coolant and said I should be OK. I haven't added coolant to my 2003 Jeep Liberty since I bought in '03, my 2003 Cobra in the 2 years I had it, or my '93 Accord in the 2 years I've owned it.
2. Rear End - Whine noticeable at 65-70mph. No where near as loud as the 1st time when I had it replaced, but definitely noticeable to me. Dealer attributes whine to my aftermarket shifter and tire/road noise.
They've been really good to me regarding service, so I'm not really mad at them. I'm just freakin' pissed at GM in general. I guess I just don't have enough to bitch about so I'm using these things to do so. :thepan:
  Just sent you a PM, please respond. Thanks commander112 11-01-06, 02:44 PM There has to be a better dealer in TX. You appear to be suffering from two common issues. Your dealer should know it and should fix it right the first time you are in with a complaint.
I have owned my V for two months now and it is currently in getting a new rear end as the dealer quickly heard the noise and agreed with the issue. It was in two weeks ago with a radiator leak. I smelled coolant and could see the res. dropping. The dealer saw the leak from a bonding seam right away and replaced. The dealer said they see it all the time and the new style radiator solves the problem. The service department is there to solve customer complaints, if they are unwilling or unable to do so you need to find another dealer.
That said, I smashed up my wife's STS4 shortly after we got the car and the dealer was having trouble getting a replacement inner fender apron. The car sat untouched and the body shop could not come up with a date for the part to arrive. A simple phone call to Cadillac customer service solved everything. They contacted the vendor and had the part direct shipped in to the dealer FEDEX. Cadillac paid for my rental car during the delay and also took care of one month's lease payment. They assigned a representative to my project who kept me informed every step of the way and also kept on the dealer to get the job done.
It is because of my good experience with Cadillac customer service that caused me to buy my V and also caused another friend to buy a V. In short, I cannot understand anyone that puts up with bad service and then bitches about it in a web forum. Bitch (but be nice about it) at someone that can actually do something for you.
Mark urbanski 11-01-06, 02:55 PM helluva trip but come to San 'tone, Cavener will set you up. PM me if you can come heavymetals 11-01-06, 03:09 PM Ross Perot (remember him?) told the board of directors that there was nothing wrong with the product, it was the dealers.
They got rid of Ross.:tisk: There has to be a better dealer in TX. You appear to be suffering from two common issues. Your dealer should know it and should fix it right the first time you are in with a complaint.

I'm happy for you to have had such a great experience but as you say it is based on your dealer. Many experiences including my own have not been as positive and found the dealers simply DO NOT know anything about these specialty cars and DO NOT want to deal with them. Its seems as though you too had to abandon your quest for quality service from the dealer and go to Cadillac directly. Got5onit 11-01-06, 04:02 PM There has to be a better dealer in TX. For the issues I've had in the past, they've been really good to me (as I stated above). I'm working with a different service advisor as my main guy went on vacation. Anyway, I'm going to drive the car with the service guy tomorrow to point out what I'm hearing. The coolant issue does bother me, but what can I do when the tech ran a pressure test and claims to see no leaks? commander112 11-01-06, 05:29 PM For the issues I've had in the past, they've been really good to me (as I stated above). your dealer should not hire the blind to look for leaks. your car is a 04 and is on its original radiator, correct? the coolant has to be going somewhere.
as with any dealer experience, you are dealing with people. sometimes you deal with good, people who genuinely want to solve a problem and sometimes you deal with people that don't care and just think that you are a stupid customer and want to get to the next easy to fix job.
this can happen at any dealer and is not indicative of cadillac. i used to get poor care from bmw and jeep dealers.
mark 1QUICKV 11-01-06, 06:48 PM if your car has the bad rad. from the date made then they should replace with no questions asked, i just had my rad. repalced but it was leaking bad, from the seams. Your rad. will fall apart after time that is just one of the signs that its going, and about the rearend..... blow the thing up already, let it whine and cry all it wants. the dealer does not want to change something that is not bad yet. You know what, you're right quickV. :stirpot:
I've got a gtech I've been wanting to test for a few weeks now. The V may be in it's perfect "testing" state. :stirpot: :stirpot: MescalVto 11-02-06, 09:51 AM Hey Commander,

i have the same problem..."low coolant" so i get it checked and they replaced the radiator...a couple days later the same problem occurs...LOW COOLANT
WHAT THE F--K is up! I love this car but the lil things just kill me :thepan: Got5onit 11-02-06, 01:53 PM Somewhat good news....
Took a test drive with a Technician and pointed out the whine. He could hear it and said they would replace the rear end. He didn't know there was a difference between '04/'05 & '06 rears after I explained the supposed "upgrade".
