Ok, so I have a dilemna. I am supposed to be taking 3 of my friends and all our kids on a little road trip tomorrow (ladies day out with the kids basically). I know, y'all can make fun of me for the SRX mommy-mobile thing. I am totally ashamed to even admit it because the SRX is so not a mommy-mobile, it is my big, bad car! But you know, I need help so here it goes I want to tie down three strollers to the roof (the horror!). What are your thoughts. Could it hurt the Ultraview? Should I just forget it and we take two cars?
TIA!
Your short answer is yes, it could probably support about 10 pounds for sure. If you do it in the long haul, you can get bars that connect the two bars on top, and have a carrier you could remove and put back on.
Strap them on good, so they don't fly off in someones face!
I wouldn't risk tying down something to a pane of glass.
If it shatters you are in a world of hurt! I know it's safety glass but it can still cut not to mention whatever is up there falling down onto you.
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
If you got into an accident (God forbid) it could be even worse.
If you have the option of taking two cars, do it.
Carried my Kevlar Canoe (43 pounds) on top this past summer resting on the roof via 4 foam pads for the gunwales. Rode fine except for the wind noise. Got some rather strange looks from folks not accustomed to seeing the SRX actually used as an SUV. The 17' Wenonah looked pretty good up there. Did not use nor have cross bars.
