: I just bought a Cadillac. [Nevermind. Seller is a douche.]

Just before I found out I might be getting laid off from my new job, I was talking to my Credit Union and insurance company about getting a 2003-2004 Cadillac CTS. I've seen some with 6-speed manuals going for 16-20k with reasonably low mileage.

Well, fortunately I can save 20 grand. I've had a couple thousand tucked away in savings and stumbled across this little gem on eBay. The high bidder was a deadbeat, so I called the seller and snagged it for $950 -- I love negotiating! I was looking at Sevilles back in 2003 before I got pleasantly distracted by the Q. Since then its been an itch that needed scratching.

Recent maintenance:
New brakes
Oil leak repaired at the dealer
IAC replaced
Tons of other work done at the dealer in Cinci.

Problems:
It doesn't start. The cause is a shorted wire in the passkey system. All it takes is a 20-cent resistor and 90 minutes of my time with a screwdriver. I already printed a thorough how-to guide from the Cadillac forum and highlighted the important parts.
TCS no longer works after a recent brake job. Who the hell cares.

First planned upgrades:
Chrome wheels from a newer Seville.
Steering wheel from a newer Seville.
That's probably it. I might also dump the Delco-Bose system.

I just need to find time off work, buy a plane ticket, and pick up my new toy. I'll probably have to rent a car to drive to Radio Shack for parts. It'll do quite well in the winter and probably out-accelerate (but not out-handle) the Q.

Now, I have a reason to come to this forum besides the Stoney Legos.

Stupid douche. Now he says his wife wants him to keep it and fix it. I was about to buy a plane ticket.

I hope he blows a head gasket.

Oh well, I could see how with a car like that, one might second think $900...I sure would. Then again, I never would have agreed to it in the first place, so I'd be mad too.

You know, I'm more depressed now than I've been during break-ups and such. I think I'll go listen to "Love Hurts" by Nazareth on repeat and maybe "I Still Havent Found What I'm Looking For" by U2.

Goes to show I love cars more than women!

Jesda
10-22-06, 10:39 PM
I told him I'd send him a payment by paypal in a few hours. I wasnt the high bidder anyway. The original high bidder was a deadbeat.

IM STILL SAD. :(

I was all set to say congrats.... sorry man....

Cars do have some advantages over women.... your car doesn't blow up on you if you go drive another car, for example.... but I digress...

Obviously, that was a lot of car for $950, woulda been nice... but hey man, keep your head up, keep looking with the legendary Jesda Discipline, you'll find something super sweet.... I have full confidence in you....

Side note, if you like the Elton John "funeral for a friend/love lies bleeding", you have to hear the Dream Theatre version....

That red tip is a whore! I used the red tip (we called her the laser at work) this summer to strip rust off the frame rails on a Century class Freightliner. I got too close to a tire and cut a piece of the tread off. The tire had a little puff of smoke rising off of it from the water friction. Now that's power! If that can't clean all the grime, grease and sludge out of Paris Hilton's vag! (thanks Chad) I don't know what would!
