Lets play that game again, the one where you take the lines from a song and somebody has to name the song, the person who correctly names the song can choose another song to put in!

Here's mine...this is gonna be tough. Think big albums from the '60s, most specificially 1966...

"Aint it just like the night to play tricks when you're trying to be so quiet?
We sit here stranded, though we're doing our best to deny it
And Louise holds a handful of rain, temptin' you to defy it
Lights flicker from the opposite loft
In this room the heat pipes just cough
The Country music station plays soft
But theres nothing, really nothing to turn off"......

Both. Have been a Kiss fan since the '70's. Chose it as my wedding song because it was my second marriage. I was mor in love with my current wife (second) than I ever was with wife #1. So the song definitely fit. When I tell people that I had a Kiss song, they immediatley laugh, and start singing Detroit Rock City. It is kind of comical.

Here's another song. Came out in 1991.

"Ya live your life like it's a coma
So won't you tell me why we'd wanna
With all the reasons you give it's
It's kinda hard to believe
But who am i to tell you that i've seen
Any reason why you should stay
Maybe we'd be better off without you anyway

You got a one way ticket
On your last chance ride
Gotta one way ticket
To your suicide
Gotta one way ticket
An there's no way out alive
An all this crass communication
That has left you in the cold
Isn't much for consolation
When you feel so weak and old
But is home is where the heart is
Then there's stories to be told
No you don't need a doctor
No one else can heal your soul

Got your mind in submission
Got your life on the line
But nobody pulled the trigger
They just stepped aside
They be down by the water
While you watch 'em waving goodbye
They be callin' in the morning
They be hangin' on the phone
They be waiting for an answer
When you know nobody's home
And when the bell's stopped ringing
It was nobody's fault but your own
There were always ample warnings
There were always subtle signs
And you would have seen it comin'
But we gave you too much time
And when you said that no one's listening
Why'd your best friend drop a dime
Sometimes we get so tired of waiting
For a way to spend our time
An "it's so easy" to be social
"it's so easy" to be cool
Yeah it's easy to be hungry
When you ain't got shit to lose
And i wish that i could help you
With what you hope to find
But i'm still out here waiting
Watching reruns of my life
When you reach the point of breaking
Know it's gonna take some time
To heal the broken memories
That another man would need
Just to survive"

Ummm.. is it by NIN?

Not NIN, but here's a clue, they're from the U.K. (mostly). Their level of education reflects in their lyrics below. All of the members went to school at Oxford or Cambridge.

Immanual Kant was a real pissant
Who was very rarely stable

Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar
Who could think you under the table

David Hume could out consume
Schopenhauer and Hegel
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine
Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel

There's nothing Nietzche couldn't teach ya
'Bout the raising of the wrist
Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed

John Stuart Mill, of his own free will
On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill

Plato they say, could stick it away
Half a crate of whiskey every day

Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle
Hobbes was fond of his dram

And Rene' Descartes was a drunken fart
"I drink, therefore I am"

Yes, Socrates, himself, is particularly missed
A lovely little thinker
But a bugger when he's pissed

Who's that woman on your arm all dressed up to do you harm
And I'm hip to what she'll do, give her just about a month or two.
Bit off more than I can chew and I knew what it was leading to,
Some things, well, I can't refuse,
One of them, one of them the bedroom blues.
She delivers right on time, I can't resist a corny line,
But take the shine right off you shoes,
Carryin', carryin' the bedroom blues.
Oo...

In the bar you're getting drunk, I ain't in love, I ain't in luck.
Hide the switch and shut the light, let it all come down tonight.
Maybe your friends think I'm just a stranger,
Some face you'll never see no more.

Let it all come down tonight.
Keep those tears hid out of sight, let it loose, let it all come down.

Rolling Stones - Let it Loose (knew the song, but I'll admit I had to google for the name)

I wanna be a Kennedy
I wanna be a big heartbreaker
Live fast and for real
And you can follow it in the papers

I wanna be a Kennedy
I wanna shake hands with heroes
And kiss the girls of centerfolds on the tongue
And die young

I'll be brave tonight
Either live or die
I'll be brave tonight
Standing tall and bright
Such romantic eyes
Got me hypnotized
And if I had my chance I'd never let you go
And if I had my chance I'd never let you go

I wanna be a Kennedy
I wanna be tall and handsome
I'd conquer the world
And you'd see it on television

If I could be a Kennedy
If I could be a real heartbreaker
I'd watch you crash into my arms
We're the stars under the barrel of a gun
We die young

I'll be brave tonight
Standing tall and bright
Such romantic eyes
Got me hypnotized
And if I had my chance I'd never let you go
And if I had my chance I'd never let you go

In the heat of a summer night
In the land of the dollar bill
When the town of Chicago -----

Way down in the valley tonight
There's a man in the shadows with a gun in his eye
And a blade shining oh so bright
There's evil in the air and there's thunder in the sky
And a killer's on the bloodshot streets
Oh and down in the tunnel where the deadly are rising
Oh I swear I saw a young boy
Down in the gutter
He was starting to foam in the heat

It was a black Cadillac that drove you away
Everybody's talkin'
But they don't have much to say
It was a black sky of rain
None of it fell
One of us gets to go to heaven
One has to stay here in hell

Now it's a lonely world
Guess it always was
Minus you and minus blood
My blood

It was a black Cadillac
Like one you used to drive
Now you were always rollin'
But those wheels burn up your life
Oh, it's a black heart of pain that I'm wearin'
Suits me just fine
Oh, there was nothin' I could do for you
When you were still alive

Yeah, it's a lonely world
Just a numbers game

Will find me feelin' just the same

BTW: all anyone has to do is is google the lyrics supplied and the artist and songs come up. I just copied and pasted the first paragraph of these lyrics on google and......voila! I never heard this song and I'm not all that familiar with any work from the Allman brothers.

Mentions of Cadillacs and blood? Must be something by Johnny Cash.Very close. It's his daughter Rosanne. She wrote Black Cadillac after Johnny, her step-mother June and mother Vivian all died within a year of each other. The entire album Black Cadillac is excellent, but the title track is especially haunting and evocative. The trumpets at the end are a tribute to Ring of Fire.

Bear paws and rascal power
Watching us in your garage
Big girl you ate the neighbor
The nova is over

Wake up and play

If you're gonna buy it, go get the boxed edition they just released with a song-by-song interview given by the Chili Peppers.

Okay...somebody besides the vets guess this one.

Our Flag's unfurled to ev`ry breeze,
From Dawn to setting sun.
We have fought in every clime and place,
Where we could take a gun.
In the shores of far-off Northern lands,
And in sunny tropic scenes,
You will find us always on the job,

We could all go down to Malibu
and make some noise.
Coca-cola doesn't do
The justice she enjoys.
We could all come up with something
due to be destroyed.
We could all go down.

Desecration Smile - RHCP

I got one -

Lullabies, look in your eyes,
Run around the same old town.
Doesn't mean that much to me
To mean that much to you.

I've been first and last
Look at how the time goes past.
But I'm all alone at last.
Rolling home to you.

Old Man by Wilson Phillips.

Now, try this one.

And we'll walk down the avenue again,
And we'll walk down the avenue again,
When the healing has begun.

And we'll walk down the avenue in style,
And we'll walk down the avenue, we'll smile,
And we'll sing and make it all worthwhile,
When the healing has begun.

You told me, I see you rise
But it always falls
I see you come, I see you go

You say, "All things pass, into the night"
And I say, "Oh no sir, I must say you're wrong, I must disagree, oh no sir, I must say you're wrong"
Won't you listen to me

You told me, I've seen it all before
I've been there,
I've seen my hopes and dreams a-lying on the ground

I've seen the sky, just begin to fall
And you say, "All things pass, into the night"
And I say, "Oh no sir, I must say you're wrong, I must disagree, oh no sir, I must say you're wrong"
Won't you listen to me?
