Oh man, these were the cars on the road in my last years in high school ! :worship:

I had to sell my '65 GTO convertible when the Marines sent me to the far east :crying:

Stick with it to the end!

That sucks man, I would've put it in storage. Wouldn't it technically be a 1965 Pontiac Tempest GTO package though? Pontiac didn't officially designate the GTO as its' own individual model until 1966.

A '69 GTO "Judge" is on my wish list:D.

That's right. The GTO moniker actually came out in '64, but technically they were Tempest GTOs until '66. Mine was the 389ci tri-power 4spd.

Jason, don't take this the wrong way, but how do you afford insurance on a Cadillac, a classic Cadillac and a classic Trans-Am?

Zorb750
10-21-06, 09:29 AM
I was like that at that age too (with cars). Cars aren't that hard to afford. Just as long as you make a reasonable (not necessarily huge) amount of money and don't buy yourself anything else.

Yeah but is it feasible if you're living in your own place while working full time making 9.50 an hour at 19 years of age?

Here's a question for you guys - who knows what the initials "GTO" actually stand for?

Hint: It's Italian, and it pertains to making enough cars to qualify for a racing class designation....

Gran Turismo Omologoto

It means Specially homologated race car if i'm not mistaken.

Omolog-A-to
Sold basically to qualify for GT racing.
Gran Turismo Homologation
homologation means certified or apporved for a specific thing

Yeah, but it's got restrictions on how many miles you can drive and how often. Right?

CadillacGurl
10-21-06, 01:33 PM
Yeah it does, he doesn't drive the 74 that often along with the 83

Nice video, and the cars in it. If I could pick an old muscle car to have and restore it would probably be 1970-72 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ with the 455 engine. :)

Nice....

I miss my '66 Mustang...had to sell it for repair work for the STS :banghead: . Hopefully in the next year or so I'll be able to afford to build the '66 Chevy II Nova project I always wanted to. Throw a blown 383 stroker in there, and hook it up to a built th400 and a good old beefed up GM 12 bolt rear....bascially a daily driver.

Dan, I thought you were gonna make a hot rod '85 Caprice? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else...

Anyways, if I could have any one muscle car, it'd be a 1970 Charger R/T, in black of course, torqueflite automatic, 440 Six-Pack... mmmmmmm...

No that was me.....I'd still like to build a big block Caprice as a nice sleeper, but the Nova comes first. Always had a thing for those old Nova's, they're just bad ass.

Honestly...I'm really looking for a good rolling chassis with no drivetrain. Really anyting that I can stuff a 502 in will do, as long as it's not too heavy.

I~LUV~Caddys8792

I know the power of a 502. I rode in a '70 Elkie SS with the 505 hp 502. In 4th gear, at 35mph, that thing still pulled harder than my deVille at 35 in 1st gear!

I know the power of a BBC pretty well myself... I got a ride in this Chevy II street car out here called "badnews." It's got a big blower, 10-71 IIRC, and nitrous, runs 9s in the 1/4 spinning through first.

You should get some good high res pics of the Eldo in a cool background and prep them for the next Cadi calender that will have more of the classic body styles :)
