After driving My STS-4 ( 2006 ) for the first 10,000 Km , I discovered the best way to enjoy it :

1- Turn the sound level as loud as necessary to cover all the disturbing noises ( I must admit that the sound system is the best thing in this car )
2- Drive the car on highways as much as you can - avoid hills and slow maneuvering in the allays ( driving this car at low speeds is very similar to driving a bus )
3- enjoy the manual shifting ( the PAL in the transmission is still figuring out the best driving conditions that suits me - maybe after driving another 20,000 Km it will work )
4- stop thinking that you made a very bad decision in buying this beautiful expensive car and try to convince yourself in owning it for another couple of years because trading it for another car now will cost you a fortune

any other suggestions are welcome

I miss my 1998 STS

seems you are dissapointed.... well, a friend of mine used to have a 2000 STS.... and really LOVED it... he drove mine once and couldn't believe the improvement...

first of all, I don't hear any disturbing noises... only if i drive off-road : P

I admit that at low speeds it has shifting indecision at like 40 kph... but no one drives at that speed except uphill driving... I usually drive at 80 kph and i'm so relaxed... check the 2007 STS 6-speed

what impresses me is that it's VERY AGILE for a 2 ton car....

it has a very quite cabin... I still can hear my roaring V8...

a very bad decision !!... if i had to do it all over again, I will again choose the STS... I can't find a competitor.... well except one, Infiniti M... but we don't have the M in our area... have no idea why they didn't realease it...

but GS430, BMW 530, Audi A6, Mercedes E-class ... thanx but NO...

I tried all... when it comes to driving, STS and 5-series I think are the best out of those...

it's really great bang for the buck... worths every penny...

btw, mine is a RWD, and I have now 27,000 km on it...

Maybe be the RWD are OK , but believe me when I am driving in town I prefer to drive my wife's Toyota Prado - it is an SUV and easier to Handle than the AWD STS in town
BTW , today I heard the 12 STS were called back in Dubai for problems in the transmission and owners are offered the Escalade at a very good price as a compensation - I will follow on that
also there is a new very promising thread that a Technical Service Bulletin #10017146 will fix the transmission problem in the car - will check the dealer soon and hope it will work

Funny nasser that you tried to trade. I did several times just to get the hell away from this total piece of crap cadillac STS4. Now that the transmission shifts smooth finally (thanks to me and not GM's help) I think I can tolerate the car for another two years. Still the suspension is too rough in perfromance mode on broken streets and the ride is wallowy, bottom out special on touring at low speeds. Makes speed bumps a real nuisance.

The two wheel drive guys have no clue how ill refined the awd versions are, they will always wonder what the beef is about. I drove a two wheel drive STS for 300 miles before buying the awd. Should have stuck with rwd in retrospect. Should have stuck with Lexus. Will not make that mistake again.

ouch... didn't expect such difference between transmissions for RWD and AWD... glad that it is solved...

try to trade your car with a used RWD V8, they will be very close in price... you don't want to keep driving this crap for years... I found here about 4 V8 STS RWD, between 15k and 20k KM, different colors for around 2/3 of the original price... warranty and free maintainance are still included for 4 years or 100k km... btw, i live in Bahrain...

Hi ascariSTS
the problem in Lebanon is the VAT and registrations and very expensive ( around 20K ) so you will loose it if you think to trade in + the depreciation , that is why it is very costly to trade in
I will try to fix the transmission, hope it will work
