yeah you know what...most installers do NOT tell you that carpet removal is extra. most places told us X per sq ft plus $35 removal fees! :tisk:
place we used was free. well...it was included.

we just laid wood floor in our house last year. it looks real nice, i know the one room is colonial oak and the other is elite cherry or something like that. it is a little lighter than the oak.

i'm thinking of doing the living room in a darker wood.
damn houses are money pits

in our den we put up wooden walls that we polyurethaned <sp?> with the darker oak floors. also have a wooden tv stand and some table like things (i cant think of what they are called) and it has a rustic log cabin kind of feel in the room. its pretty nice looking. the living room is where we put the lighter wood floors but for some god awful reason my mom put a big ass rug down (:cookoo: ) so you can only see some of it. we remodeled the WHOLE house last year between March and December and finished about 3 days before Christmas. thank God its over is all i can say. cost almost 35k to completely overhaul everything. the only thing that is left is a bathroom and we are getting ready to start on it.

Looks good. In the ongoing construction that is my house, my parents went for wood floors in all the bedrooms with area rugs. I've always known carpet and I like the change up. Any reason why the TV is up against the wall on the right?

there's a built-in nook for a TV there. that's just where it "fits"

Looks great. Wood is nice, easy to keep clean and always looks good. I did notice one thing, did you just lay that tile or was that down already?

The floors look great. Don't rush on buying that new TV the time will come before you know it. We have a 61" TV and just got home turned it on and oops no screen. So, I had to laugh at the post above. Do you want to trade?
My TV doesn't work right now but it will fit in your spot. I guess we will be calling in a repair man or buying a new one. This sucks!!!!!!!! I wish this was an easy fix, but I don't think so. Tom was ready to pull the damn thing out because he thought maybe it was a wire, but we haven't been home and the TV worked fine before we went out. Well sorry for hijacking your thread I just had to rant!

I see that, but why is it up against the right in the nook, not centered.

we bought a 3-year warranty on the tv, and knock on wood she's been perfect. out of warranty now. so when it dies, we'll upgrade.
sounds like you're in for a repairman's visit :(

Ahh ok. I was going to talk about those very nice small metal edges for when tile meet other flooring at the same level but it has to go under the tile so never mind.

Then floor looks great. I guess I didn't spend as much time looking around your house as everyone else did. :)

down already

Nice digs Urby! Very well done.:yup:

If I could make one suggestion to farther improve your stair well? I'd suggest a larger size rail with a curved section instead of a mitered joint. Maybe even a newl post at the end? Just a thought if you like these DIY home projects.
