: Commercials: "[car name] gets over xxx miles per tank"

I know we're probably in the minority of humans on the planet because we probably know more about cars than the average joe... but how stupid do car companies think american's are?

The ford freestyle (aka 500 wagon) gets 500 miles per tank.
The nissan versa gets 400 miles per tank.

My CTS would get 700 miles per tank in I put a 32 gallon gas tank in it.
I have a pretty light foot 95% of the time and get about 400 miles to the tank (or more) with mixed driving mostly on the highway.

I dunno... I guess it really just "grinds my gears"

i barely get 200 per tank on mine :p

seen that mercedes diesel add for 720 per tank? i think the fine print says 55mph downhill with a tailwind on glassy smooth roads lol

I think in city driving, I'm lucky to get 230 miles before it reads E, which means I've got like 2.5 gallons left. So I could probably go like 260 miles before a refill, but I have no intention to push it as far as it would go.

On the highway, I could probably get 450 miles to a tank.

Well, fences and barricades tend to add drag to a car... ;)

Exactly! This is nothing NEW! It's a factor of how big your gas tank is... stupid car companies trying to prey on stupid people.

Nobody caught the family guy ref?

Well this guy has a large Tank (pun intended) with a 500 gallon capacity and no problems with most fences and barricades. Yet he also only gets about 260 miles before needing to fill up... :D

I was driving up to Wisconsin today and I saw a billboard for Toyota that read "Happiness in life equals using less gas." Shortly after, I threw up in my mouth a little.

another STUPID thing with "miles per tank" that I can't stand.....

ok, your car gets EPA mileage of 20mpg.

Your car has a 20 gallon tank.

that does NOT mean you will go 400 miles. Nobody runs their tank totally empty to the point of there only being fuel in the lines (which it will no longer run) then decide... Hey, I need gas.

the auto industry should follow the Aviation world with useable/unuseable fuel.... 1-2gallons depending on car are not useable, its that simple.... but that would confuse the general public wayyy too much.

Yup, the marketing machine at work... its amazing the stuff they come up with... whats even more amazing is the fact that people believe that crap.

Actually, no Toyota employees have dicks, it's a requirement for Toyota employees to have either a Mangina or a full-fledged Vagina. :D

Happiness in life, like P-Funk said, is not driving a Toyota. Or, looking down at those who do! :D

Once I got 525 miles out of a tank of gas in my 1985 Delta 88.

Theoretically I should be able to do the same with my Expedition.

Best I ever got out of the Prelude was 420.

I~LUV~Caddys8792
10-16-06, 01:10 PM
525 miles sounds about right, they had a 25 gallon tank, and with that 307, they should be able to get 25-26 mpg highway. I think they were rated 18/25.

I was running on fumes. :suspense: That was a great car. I'd love to find another one someday with low miles. They're out there.

About a month ago, an older couple brought their '85 Delta 88 Brougham into my work for some carb work, it had either 61 or 63k miles on it!

Adam

my 84 Cutlass Supreme Brougham had a bunch of miles on it... dont remember the exact number, like 150k +, hadnt had an oil change in about (no joke) 80k miles... had metal shavings in the oil when we changed it. no fender wells, never hydrolocked... drove it through a six foot puddle (and it was a lowrider and nothing happened. never smoked or anything. damn i miss that car. almost got it back but the bank wouldnt give me the loan :( . wish i never would have sold it. at the time though i didnt have a choice.

i caught that family guy reference. And you know what really grinds my gears? that nissan versa commercial that imitates viagara and says it gets 400 miles a tank, the one you speak of sir. That really grinds my gears.

I watched the FCC episode yesterday because i got it DVR'd. That is my favorite episode.

Well sadly, I didn't get to drive it, but it was in really nice condition. No rust or anything, paint still good, interior still good. IIRC, it was a greyish blue color with dark blue interior.

I can personally attest to having seen 34 mpg in all around driving, and a bit better than 40 mpg all freeway/long stretch highway on a Mercedes E320 CDI (2006).

That puts it more like 800 miles per tank.

I~LUV~Caddys8792

I <3 that song. I actually learned that from my mom too!

When you take him all the way, does he say:

"I couldn't take it any longer, Lord I was crazed
When the feelin' came upon me like a tidal wave
Started swearin' to my god and on my mother's grave
That I would love you 'til the end of time
I swore I would love you 'til the end of time

So now I'm prayin' for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
'Cause if I've gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I could really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I can do right now!
I'm prayin' for the end of time, it's all that I can do
Prayin' for the end of time so I can end my time with you!"

As far as women go, I give up. Simple as that. You can go on and read more in my "need relationship advice" thread if you're interested. I'm interested to hear what you have to say as far as advice goes.

Thanks Nicki.

CadillacGurl
10-21-06, 02:50 PM
Women are complicated simple as that, I'll admit I'm even sometimes complicated. They have to realize they will eventually had to dedicate their life and time to a man and children in the future. Its a hard realization, mom told me that. Eventually you have to put your man first, you have to spend the rest of your life with them. Don't fight over the petty shit just let it go, admit you're sorry and get on with life.

In the beginning, just have fun with each other. Hang out together, go to parties (you may find a better girl there, which yeah I hate admitting that). What I used to do is sort of window shop. In your case, go around and just girl watch. Study how the act and stuff. Become friends with girls, friends with girls normally leads you to more girls. I guess you'll eventually find one.

I have no idea if that made any sense Chad... haha

Its what I used to do (I don't do it anymore so don't freak Jay lol), I made some great guy friends but really how I met Jason was at work. About 1 of 4 people meet their future spouse at work, so keep your eyes peeled! I don't know if any girls work at the shop you work at (personally I'd love to work on cars as a job but yeah I need more training in that field)

I~LUV~Caddys8792
10-21-06, 02:54 PM
Yeah I girl watched once, it was a bad idea. I spent three hours in the city jail! lol!

So basically what you're saying is that there is a sort of an internal struggle in women's minds about this age, and they're stuck between the idea of having a man and getting settled down or being free and independent? Sounds just like me!

With me, it seems that every girl I've ever hung out with has a boyfriend, is not my type, is boring or is too busy too do stuff. It's very frustrating, especially when I meet the nice ones (such as your self) and then I'm like "wow, this sucks, everyone is having great luck but me!" Another big problem of mine is that I'll overthink anything and everything. It's not easy to do anything with women when you 2nd guess everything you do.

CadillacGurl
10-21-06, 02:56 PM
Are you serious?!
