Stoneage_Caddy 02-25-04, 02:57 PM adaptive seats ? i would like to know more about those 1toycad 02-25-04, 06:10 PM Are adaptive seats the same as the "auto-massage" seats featured in many newer Caddies? If so, then do a search here. Seems like a lot of people that have them don't like them. Personally, I don't even like the lumbar support in my Seville. I can't ever get them adjusted right. On the other hand, the lumbar support in my wife's Yukon is far more comfortable. BTW, I purchased my 1999 Seville from my dad (with only 9K on the odometer, my dad did not drive it very much). He bought it new from the dealer. Just the other day my father gave me the VHS video that comes with every new Caddy. I played it (luckily I still have a VCR  ). It is really an interesting video to watch. It is kind of cheesy, but fun. I wonder whether now that Caddy is interested in a new, younger, more hip image, if they have started using younger, sexier models in their instructional videos. :lildevil: Night Wolf 02-25-04, 09:00 PM AFAIK the adaptive seats has air cousins within the seats, and sensors, so no matter how you sit on the seat, it forms around you so it is comfortable... I thought all '98+ Sevilles had them..... Maximln 03-04-04, 11:39 PM Good luck trying to find a car with this option. There were VERY few of them made. They were hailed by the orthopedic community when they were first introduced in 1998. It was the first application in an automobile. There were 10 small air bladders in the seat--5 in the bottom cushion and 5 in the back cushion. When turned on, there were sensors in the seat to indicate where the pressure points of where you are sitting are which then relayed the information to a computer that, based on programming, determined the optimum position for the 10 air bladders and inflated or deflated them accordingly. Every 4 minutes, the system would "read" how you were sitting again (in case you changed positions which you do frequently on a trip) and would again inflate or deflate the bladders accordingly. It is a very cool feature as the seat "molds" around the way you are sitting. Unfortunately, it has not proven to be a very popular feature and again, it is very hard to find a car with the option. In 98, if you got the adaptive feature, you could not get the heated seats option. Is subsequent years, you could get both. Max | |
