I was wondering if one of the audio gurus could help me.

I'd like to add a couple of tweeters to the system to add fidelity/clarity, as well as a subwoofer to move some air, and add some bottom punch.

I do not want to jack-up the audio quality, but rather enhance it. Maybe I'm dreaming and this is not possible.

I have a 98 ETC with the stock in-dash CD, BOSE system (and 12 CD changer in the trunk).

I was thinking of some kind of tweeter that would be decent quality and easy to add, and perhaps a self-amplified subwoofer.. maybe a $100 bazooka in the trunk?

Thanks much fellas!

Adding tweeters won't do a lot. Bose + Aftermarket don't mix well, either all one or the other.

How much bass do you want?

I want just enough bass to feel it. I don't listen to music at very loud levels, but I'd love to feel that movie-theater subwoofer feeling.

I don't want the loud, makes your hood rattle kind of volume. Just a little more oomph. Sometimes the Bose system produces those low rich clear tones, but I'd like to hear them more/supplement them.

Is there such a thing as self-amplified tweeters with built-in crossover? If so I wouldn't even know where to splice the audio signal from. Likewise self-amplified sub-woofer would be cool (w crossover).

Thanks in advance for your help!

I've never heard of self-amplified tweets. I say just add a sub and if you still aren't happy I would say do a speaker overhaul.

So where would I splice the line? or do I need a special harness/adapter?

The less mess the better. What powered sub-woofer do you recommend? I am interested in bang-for-the-buck, not the best and priciest but a good value (that's not crap).

You would need to buy an LOC...and splice it into your 6x9 wires.

Only self powered sub I know is the bass-link. If you want to go seperate, you could get a lot depending on your budget.

If you do go seperate sub and amp, I have a box I will sell to you for $100 shipped. It will make a lot of single 12s sound real good.
