Hello All,

Need some guidance on Snow Tires.

1) What is the best snow tire on the market these days?

2) Do I require 4 tires or only 2 on the drive wheels?

I had 4 Michelin Pilot Alpins on my CTS and had no problem in the snow. I had them mounted on a set of inexpensive Enkei alloy wheels with 5 thin spokes for easy cleaning. Go with as small a wheel size as will fit your brakes to maximize your sidewall height to protect you from potholes.

Definitely all 4 should be snow tires. Traction, stopping power and lateral handling should always be matched front to rear and side to side. Always four snow tires.
I am considering Blizzak LM-22 by Bridgestone.

See my post for another question on snow tires for the STS.

The Blizzaks worked fine on my v8 sts in Minchigan. Have your dealer check bulletin 04-03-10-013

get 4 tires...
even if you can get by with only 2... they will wear out very fast if you can't rotate them at every 5-7k miles depending on driving style.

I'm getting the blizzaks LM-22's from tirerack.. let me know if you want some, I'll refer you.
I'm getting them in 245/45-18 from $200 a piece.
probably cheaper in the more standard 17" size.

I always recommend buying snow tires in sets of 4. Personally I won't sell anything less, its not proper for any kind of driving in snow conditions.

Michelin Pilot Alpin
Dunlop Winter Sport M3
Bridgestone Blizzak LM22

All snow tires that I highly recommend.

You certainly need 4 tires. I have ice Perellies on mine STS 2005, they are made to fit on your standard wheels.
