So my 04 is still under warranty - I take into the dealer because it has developed a monster rattle somewhere in the passenger side door/window/A-pillar area that is driving me nuts!

I dropped it off on a Monday, and they put me in a new CTS (thinking fine, I can handle this for a day or two). I don't hear anything from them for 2 days (I called and left 1 message for the guy on the 2nd day but he never returned the call). I try calling on the 3rd day and can't get him so I leave another message - not returned.

Finally I drive in there the morning of the 4th day because I'm pissed due to the lack of communication. He tells me they haven't been able to diagnose the problem correctly - they replaced the entire door panel but it didn't solve the problem, he is going to send it to his "collision center" so they can address it.

Mind you, the vehicle has never been in an accident, I guess his monkeys just couldn't figure it out so he thought it HAD to be a structural issue and he wanted to pass the buck.

So I'm in the CTS over the weekend and into the first part of the following week. I call on Tuesday, not back yet. Wednesday, not back yet but it's done and coming in late in the day. He wanted time to go through it and clean it up so they say I'll for sure receive it back on Thursday.

I go by Thursday afternoon to get rid of the CTS happy to hear that the rattle has been resolved. What happens - he tells me the rattle hasn't been fixed and they haven't had time to clean it up. He wanted his guys to take another look at it today and I'll have it back tomorrow.

At this point I am not so cordial anymore and I expressed my "discontent" with the level of service I have received, but nevertheless leave with the hopes of having this rattle resolved.

So I come back on Friday afternoon around 3:30 as instructed - the original "service consultant" I had been dealing with was already gone for the day.

Another guy is there and says I'm sorry, but we couldn't fix the rattle, we know you wanted your car back though, we are thinking we might just have to replace the entire door...

I'm furious, take my keys and head out to my car to collect my thoughts. I begin to do a quick walkaround to make sure my baby is in good shape, but what do I find - THE BACK BUMPER HAD BEEN BACKED INTO SOMETHING! After further inspection, the driver's side mirror had been scraped and gauged on the front painted area!

Unbelievable - 2 weeks at the dealer, problem not resolved, and a damaged rear bumper and passenger side mirror...

I marched right back in and started swearing and asked to see his "boss's boss".

They bring out the service director who was nice as can be, calmed me down and assured they would fix everthing and they apologized for the problems, yada yada yada....

Sorry, but I just had to rant a bit...any ideas on how I should proceed??

Thanks,
Dan

Did you buy the truck there? If so get the manager involved, both service and sales manager, and ask to talk to the owner too. The more people you get involved the better chance you have to get it corrected. Sorry to hear about your problem. :(

No, I bought the truck at a different dealer out of state and have relocated...I think you are right to get as many people as possible involved though.

I guess I'll take it back in this week - they did mention they will give me an 07 Escalade to drive this time while they are working on it. I just want mine back to normal...

get the owner/GM involved.
they should make 1 month's payment (if you have payments) and/or give you some free accessories like a Caddy shirt or jacket.
with the internet/BBB/local news stations/newspapers, i'm sure they'll want to avoid bad publicity.

Ohh!!!

Urbanski is right, demands a few payments. Thats rediculous! What was their plan...? to not tell you. I would be ensured that there is no more damage, to the chassis especially. Those kind of damages will lower the value on your vehicle.

Take care of it now. The longer you wait, the less important the matter will be, to the dealer and you.
