Top sales people for Mary Kay cosmetics are rewarded with a pink Cadillac.

Yea, she actually has exclusive rights to the paint color. She buys all sorts of cars in special lots like that, the Cadillacs are just the top o' the line prize for the most ambitious lipstick peddlers in her organization.

Personally, I don't think they look very good. It appears more like the normal White Diamond tricoat sitting under a red glowing light than a real shade of pink.

It kind of gives me a headache to look at them. :bonkers:

I saw a light pink Grand Prix today while on my Durango test drive. It wasn't too bad because it was lighter, and not that noticeable, but I still wouldn't want to be seen behing the steering wheel.

I'm pretty sure that Mary Kay Cosmetics has been doing this for well over 30 years. I can remember seeing the Pink Caddys in the mid 70's when I was in High School.

(Circa 1963) "In what is now considered another savvy and strategic move, Mary Kay chose pink as the distinctive product packaging color so her products would stand out beautifully in the traditionally all-white bathrooms of the day. What transpired was the creation of one of the most easily recognizable marketing symbols in the world. After Mary Kay Ash requested a local Cadillac dealer paint her car “Mountain Laurel” pink to match the Company’s eye and lip palettes, everyone in the independent sales force instantly wanted one. History was made. Mary Kay ingeniously crafted the pink car program into one of the most coveted sales incentives ever — and the beginning of a Career Car Program that today boasts more than 10,000 cars on the road across the country. Not all of the cars in the Career Car Program are pink, as the custom color exclusive to Mary Kay is reserved for the Company’s highest achievers."

Hey, you get a free caddy... think about it, thats like 50 thousand dollars you didnt have to spend! Spend the money and get it repainted if you hate is as much as i would.

It began in 1985 with the first Coupe deVille in that color. The actual initial color was used all the way up thru 1988, and was 1956/1957 "Mountain Laurel" a regular standard paint choice, that was VERY popular. Then, in 1989 with the all new style Cadillac, they began to lighten up the color with every deVille change over. The 1994 got even lighter and the 2000 was yet lighter. Now, it's almost a peach/diamond white. About 550 are made each year. Top executives with the Dallas based company drive (drove) Allantes, Fleetwoods, Sixty Specials and Sevilles. To date, no Cadillac Trucks have been ordered. I am sure there will be a handfull of XLRs too. The company owns the rights to the color, just as UPS owns their brown and Westinghouse owns their lilac-blue.
My wife had a 1988 sedan deVille in Mountain Laurel, and it was a great looking car. We received many compliments on it, and Mary Kay (she died 2 years ago) had signed the dash. :shhh:

If I'm not mistaken, you get the opportunity to 'lease' the car at a very good rate. When the car is sold, it must then be repainted.

So for rarity alone, having pink Cadillac would make it more collectable.

Here's a picture of our 1988 Sedan de Ville in Mountain Laurel.

We bought it from a neighbor when 2 years old (1990) with 7,150 miles on it, and it was flawless. I added the Appliance Wire Wheels & the Vogue WWs and changed out the hard plastic steering wheel for a leather wrapped OEM 1988 de Ville version, and added the chrome wheel lips. We had it until 1993 when I bought the preesent 1993 Sixty Special, going from ultra light pink to midnight purple ! :coolgleam

Though the top prize is a pink cadillac, lesser sales executives also get gm vehicles. My neighboor is a regional director or some bs title like that and she has received a brand new grand am and grand prix from mary kay. They are not in the signature pink color however.
