View Full Version : HELP - 02 Escalade Factory Ride Height Cinfulade02 10-04-06, 12:44 PM I purchased my vehicle lowered with different springs in the rear. Replaced the springs back to stock but am not sure how far to adjust the front torsion bar to get the vehicle back to factory ride height.
Does anyone know from the factory what the front and rear ride height should be? Also, is it measured from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender?
Thanks in advance, currently my alignment is suffering and I don't want to fix it until I get the front height adjusted correctly. I am assuming once the front is right the rear will adjust accordingly.
Thanks In Advance
Anyone with a factory 02ish with factory wheels and suspension could always measure for me if no one knows... p l e a s e...
The dealer wanted to charge me $300 to turn the 2 front torsion screws to fix the height... I raised my 03' in the front to match the rear, I needed to get new keys (I used Ford F250 keys) and probably raised the front almost 3". Make sure to get your trucks front end realigned after you are done Cinfulade02 10-04-06, 12:56 PM I raised my 03' in the front to match the rear, I needed to get new keys (I used Ford F250 keys) and probably raised the front almost 3". I am not sure if this is helping me.
I am going for factory height. Front end was only ever adjusted to lowest torsion position and rear had the ebiach lowering springs... was a crappy job. Now I have factory springs back in the rear and need to readjust the front torsion using the factory bolts I believe.
I don't know what "keys" are so I guess I don't "really" know if they were used previously... but I know what they look like and I don't see any. TheCaddyKidd 10-04-06, 01:08 PM you should check the the front torsion keys you have in now are not aftermarket ones.. i lowered my truck a few days ago and the kit used torsion keys in the front.. I had to replace my factory keys with the aftermarket ones.. my parents both have 02 Escalades however they have 18inch wheels.. if you want me to i can run outside with a ruler and measure the bottom of the bumper to the ground if that will help any Cinfulade02 10-04-06, 01:14 PM Maybe I don't know what the keys look like... I did not even know there are "factory" keys...
Can some one show me a picture of the keys on our vehicle... stock if possible? I thought I know what they looked like from lowering kits and I don't see them on my car frankly but maybe I am looking in the wrong place... how hard are these to change out? Maybe these were part of the dealers quote of $300 but they didn't mention it if it was.
Thanks for the offer on measuring, but maybe until I figure out if I still have aftermarket keys or not we shouldn't bother. If you crawl under your truck and find the adjustment screws for the front torsion bar the "keys" are what the bolt pushs against to adjust the truck up and down. You will want to "tighten" them to raise your truck up. They are not hard to change out, but they are under tension and you have to be careful. This should help
::Offroad-Tech -- GM Torsion Bar 401:: (http://www.offroad-tech.com/tech/tb401/) Cinfulade02 10-04-06, 03:01 PM That does help a TON! Thanks! How can I id the current keys to know if they are the original factory? Does anyone know the part number for the original factory keys for my 02 Escalade?
Even though I changed out the rear springs to factory the truck is still riding pretty low... is that the rear end suspension keeping the truck level? The ride is stiffer/better and the bounce is out but alignment was done by tire shop and still sucks... after 2 attempts... I think it has to do with the ride height being so off.
I wish I knew what the factory ride height should be on factory 17's... I keep a tape measure on me so if I see one in a parking lot I can measure myself...

::Offroad-Tech -- GM Torsion Bar 401:: (http://www.offroad-tech.com/tech/tb401/) The part number is stamped in the side (thin side) not sure if you can see it on the truck or not. I have a set of them from my 03' and the part number is 15530030. slk230mb 10-04-06, 07:25 PM In the rear, when you lower the truck, you have to mod the sensor for the air shocks, so there is a chance that they aren't filling up enough now to level the ride. Cinfulade02 10-04-06, 07:50 PM The truck is level actually... I think they are working... the sensors looked untouched also when I changed back to the factory springs.

I'm sure you want your rig to ride like a caddy should and you'll prob never be 100% sure unless someone who works on them for a living checks it out. If its 300 and you can get them to make sure the rear is where it should be included in that price you might consider it, depending on if you trust your dealer.I have an o3 esv awd and it accually doesn't sit level. In stock setting the front should be a little lower than the rear- hope that helps some. good luck 05 Cadillac Escalade 10-05-06, 09:16 PM man if i were you i'd go ahead and spend that 3 hun just to know that all the sh*t is where it should be. That is correct. This is also why most of the lowering kits are 2" in the front and 3" in the rear or 3" in the front and 5" in the rear. The rear is always lowered a little more to balance out the height of the Escalade.
