Hi,
I´ve a 1970 Cadillac coupe deville convertible and today we installed a HEI distribitor of a ´74 eldorado. We had trouble pulling a wire to the HEI so we used a pink wire that was already there and didn´t do much. It came from the dahs together with a lot of other wires. And the pink wire was also a bit bigger than the rest. Does anyone knows what this pink wire is for? And can it conflict with the fact that teh wire is also in use for the HEI?
Thanks in advance,
Marc

You shouldn't have needed to run a new wire... the line that fed to the coil should have been adequate to feed the HEI distributor (BATT connection)...
I don't remember any pink wires... coming FROM THE DASH?:confused:
Is it running the way you have it now?
If it starts and seems to run okay then I wouldn't be too concerned.
:bouncy:
The pink wire is the direct battery feed to the ignition switch I believe.
Thanks for your help guys.
We needed a new wire because the old wire that was used for the old distribitor and went to the coil didn't have enough power. It's a wire with a resistant and the HEI distribitor needs the full juice.
We used the pink wire and it seems to work just fine. It's in use for a week now and I have no problems.
At least I know now what the pink wire is doing. Is it no problem if it goes to the ignition and directly to the distribitor? I guess not.

Nope, not as long as it is 'switched' and kills the power when you shut it off!:bouncy:
I agree!, verify this pink wire has no power with key off. You could be on the wrong side of the ignition switch?
