Hi all, nice looking forum, I hope to help out as well as get some constructive feedback on some issues I might have.
This is vastly different ground for me, this will be my first purchase of a dometic car, alittle scared but here we go. I have owned half a dozen or so Japanesse cars and afew ( Holden ) Australian cars and really have had a good ride. Living in OZ for 25 years I heard about the horror stories of the American vehicles falling to pieces after 100,000 miles. Throw them away they're toast.
Well not to bore you any longer, I purchased a 2000 Cat Escalade yesterday and will pick it up this coming Monday, if needed I will let you all know if this car has any problems.
It has 108,000 miles and I'm not sure what kinda history it going to give me, I bought it from an auction, also ran a Carfax report and everything seems to check out ok.
Look fwd to hearing your comments!

Welcome aboard! Thank you for signing up! Well, I have to say that buying your first American car from an auction isn't the best way to judge American cars in the future.. I mean, if it turns out to be a lot of trouble - remember that a dealership couldn't sell it so they decided to dump it on an auction. Not saying the car is bad, however - sometimes they just land in auctions because of high mileage - which actually is probably the case here. High mileage cars and trucks are fine lately. Sure, in the 70s and 80s, 100,000 miles was pretty rough on American cars - but I think you'll find your 2000 Escalade will be just fine.

I had a 1995 Cadillac Eldorado touring coupe with 110,000 that looked and ran like it was absolutely brand new. My Brother-in-law had a 1997 Seville STS with 160,000 on it and IT looked and ran like brand new - other than needing some suspension work..
