On this new 83 coupe i just got... the passenger side door wont open.

From the outside the handle is frozen

and from the inside the handle fells like its loose and not catching/pulling anything.

Is there even a way to take the door panel off with the door closed???

You should be able to get the door panel off with the door shut. It's just a PITA!! I had to do it with my 92 buick roadmaster. I eventually got it off, but man. Not fun.

Maybe Sal knows, didn't his '79 have the same problem?

I had that problem. For me it was just a matter of sticking oil can with a long thin tube down the window slot and using a flashlight, I was able to oil the door handle mechanism and was then able to free it up. I don't know if you could do that on an '83 though. Good luck!
