I have a '97 STS (that I love). This morning on my way to work, I got a message telling me to change the oil, so on my drive home I got that done. After running a couple errands, I got the message: "Stability Reduced - Speed Limited to 90 mph" (may have been 70, can't recall exactly now) and it also chimed every time it repeated it. :bigroll:

I've been trying to find what this error means and haven't been able to find it. It doesn't seem to me that it should be related to the oil change message, but it seems to be a pretty big coincidence. Btw, oil life now says 100%.

Any ideas before I take it in for a checkup? I'd like to have an idea of what I'm looking at before I pay the dealership to check it out.

It means that some component of the suspension has failed, a strut, position sensor etc. Follow Jim's advice. The stored DTC will tell you what it is.
