I was wondering if anybody here on the for has any experience using the Intrax lowering springs for the Impala SS on a RWD Caddy.

See the springs (front and rear) formy '79 Coupe DeVille are a mess (lowrider hack-job)
New standard ones cost me around 400,- euros.
Used Caddy ones 150,- euros (HD ones from an '85 Limousine)
New Intrax springs 300,- euros (from a guy who bought them for his Caprice)

Because I need them fast I cannot order them in the us (shipping costs are well over 100 euro not incl. import taxes)

I like the look of a lowered Coupe and I want the suspension to be a bit stiffer.:)
What I don't want is a car that bottoms out all the time.....

So what are Intrax springs like????
I read someone called them Intrash, is this always the case or just in certain applications?

I've been thinking of getting a set to lower the back of my '79 a couple inches, but I don't know how much they lower the car. I wouldn't want anymore than 2 inches. If someone has some info for us it would be great :)

BTW, I love how yours looks at that height, you say it bottoms out? It didn't look that low.

Pretty sure the Intrax lower a car from stock Caddy height much more than 2".
The factory Impala SS springs lower a Caddy about 1.25 - 1.50" -- this is what I have on my FW.

The Intrax advertise what they lower a vehicle -- which would be on their website, I think. Just remember that what they advertise as lowering will be the amount below factory Impala SS height (which is already 1.25"-1.50" lower already).

Don't want to hi-jack the thread or anything, but i'm just looking for a nice stiff spring to stiffen up the ride of my 78 a bit. I don't really want to lower the car at all, but would accept a 1" drop if the handling was a bit better. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, if those things don't work, what can I use to get a 2" rear drop without chopping alot of stuff?

Nope, the car doesn't sit that low actually. Plus, I still have the factory load leveling ride shocks on there which compensate for any additional weight in the back seat or trunk. An air compressor kicks on when a sensor picks up that the rear is drooping.

My tires are outside the frame anyway. I only went with 255 wide tires which are skinny. The fender well never comes close to the top of my tires, either, since I have low-profile tires on there (45 series) which are two inches less in diameter than the stock tires were.

Only problem I have now with my car being lowered is the stinkin steep approach to my driveway which causes my tailpipes to drag ever so slightly. I just have to take it slowly.
