Rear doors on my 86 Brougham are both inoperable. Handle moves( inside and outside) but doesn't engage any hardware inside the door.
Anyone "fixed" this condition? I'd rather not discover the wheel if there is a procedure to follow.

This has happened to me before. Luckily I was able to get the hardware inside to engage by hitting the door near the handle with my hand. Then to fix it, I had to take off the door panel and lubricate all the moving parts inside.
On my Roadmaster, I wasnt able to get the door open in the rear when this happened, so you have to figure out the easiest way to get the door panel off with the door shut. The RM's windows go all the way down which made it easier, but I dont know if putting the windows down in the Brougham would help because they only go halfway down.
To add to my dismay, the driver's door just locked over the weekend.
Lucky me. Is it failing hardware, that needs replacement or just lubrication? As I climb across the front seat to exit.
Real question is - how available is replacement hardware if that's what is needed?
