View Full Version : My 77 Coupe Finally earns its way Cadboy425 09-21-06, 06:32 PM Hey everyone last spring I got a call that some people wanted to use my 77 Coupe Deville for a photo shoot. They said they'd pay me $650 for 2 days of shooting. That was a no brainer so I agreed. It was for a clothing company called Chevignon in France. So checked their website today and there was my Coupe Deville in all its glory!! (click on the winter catalog winter 06/07)
http://www.chevignon.fr/che_en.html caddycruiser 09-21-06, 06:55 PM Oh, that's SO cool! 90Brougham350 09-21-06, 07:15 PM Oh man that's bad-ass! I was annoyed there were people in the shots! Cadboy425 09-21-06, 07:57 PM The models where actually pretty nice. After the photo shoot wrapped up..the male model guy whipped out his camera and kept takin pics of my caddy. The whole film crew was from France and I wonder if they've seen that many 77 Caddies out that way. As for my minor windfall, the money went to a new Heater core which went as I was driving it back to Philly (windows fogging up, coolant leaking etc). I don't know if anyone else experiences the phenomenon of their special caddy needing some repair when u have extra money...I experience it frequently lol. Old Fleetwood 09-21-06, 09:57 PM That model would seem to get around, judging from the "Cross Plains, Wis." sweater shot I saw for a second.
But the Cadillac really made the whole thing!
BTW - I'm usually Rick186 but had to masquerade as the above name since 5 tries wouldn't let me get into this forum for some stupid reason!:want:
So I re-registered on my other DSL. Sheesh. I guess the software was screwed up tonite.
Anyhow, the Cadillac looked beautiful.
Where were the shots? McDonald Avenue? 3rd Avenue? Where?
(Once lived in Bay Ridge: P.S. 127, McKinley Jr. H.S.) TWasArroundHere 09-21-06, 10:01 PM How did you land that deal? Did you contact them or did they get in touch with you? Cadboy425 09-21-06, 10:15 PM I was doing some research online trying to see if they have a printed catalog of the shoot which would be great to keep w/ my 77's History/paperwork. The guy is a French actor named Nicolas Cazalé the girl I'm not sure about.
OldFleetwood/rick 186, they shot the first day around the DUMBO area of brooklyn between the Manhattan and brooklyn bridge (the shots of the interior, guy/girl shots etc). The one where the guy is under like a bridge area was like in Washington heights in Manhattan.
To land the gig, I actually answered an ad this company called Creative Film cars had. I had listed w/ them for a long time and out of the blue they called me. They were sayin the Chevignon people wanted to do a Donnie Brasco kinda thing..and mine was the only 77-79 Caddy Coupe avail. Yay. lol. Rick186 09-21-06, 11:04 PM Hot damn. That's great!
CONGRATS!
Your Cadillac really sets the whole commercial off.
I bet everybody thinks the guy with the 2-day scraggle is a pusher with the Caddy used for fast runs from Miami and he's sadly getting nowhere with his broad 'cause he needs new threads.:bouncy:
Who knows what the ad writers are trying to put across:thehand:
(Glad I got my old moniker back)
I went thru their website.
I see they have outlets in Neiman-Marcus and one in White Plains, NY.
You might be able to pick up a catalog at one of those locations. 1990CaddyBrougham 09-22-06, 12:17 AM Thats the ****ing balls!!! Thats so cool. Good for you! Benzilla 09-22-06, 02:52 AM That could not be any cooler!!!!!!!!
Your Cadillac totaly made the ad, it just wouldn't be the same with a Vette or something. Nothing like that ever happens to me! lol.
I want to show that to anybody who thinks that these cars are for old people, bullshit, their in!
I'll shut up now.
thats just so cool! I think I would have busted somebody's chops for putting their booted foot on my front bumper,,,,,but congrats through and through for getting some ad space for one of our own! Cadboy425 09-22-06, 08:44 AM Yeah that part made me a bit uneasy when he was on the front of the car. But the pics turned out awesome. Benzilla 09-22-06, 04:09 PM I noticed that too, I almost had a guy that worked for my mechanic fired for putting his foot on my bumper. But in this case, I think its ok because your car got exposure. davesdeville 09-23-06, 05:24 AM http://500caddy.us/Random/money1.jpg

Goes to show these cars are really becoming quite the nostalgic icon. You have a beautiful car. I guess it's in a little better shape than the one I found behind that old man's house... :bigroll: (see other thread)There's a '79 SDV near my place for sale. Much worse shape but it's a darker navy blue. I like the shade of yours much better. What's the name of it? Cadboy425 09-27-06, 01:25 PM That's awesome Cadboy425. Good story to share too. Thanks!! The name of the color is Jennifer Blue. I hope they use the car again. Yeah saw that post about that 77 u found @ the old man's house. Shame to see people let their cars go like that. DopeStar 156 09-27-06, 02:09 PM Just so long as that guy's greasy head didn't get on any of the interior surfaces....
Ms. DopeStar's uncle knows the guy who loans out Cadillacs for The Sopranos. I've seen two cars that were on that show inclusing cousin Tony's green Eldorado convertable and Tony's dad's 62 sedan. The same guy owns those two cadillacs? Does he have more? Just curious. Saw those episodes and wondered where they found them. They filmed a little bit in my neighborhood in brooklyn last summer. In the actual episodes it was just interior/exterior church scenes. So no Caddies. caddydaddy 09-27-06, 04:06 PM I was recently asked by the Cadillac-LaSalle Club if my '79 Deville was available for a film in CT. I declined, since I don't live in CT anymore! :( Rick186 09-27-06, 10:36 PM TIME FOR SOMEBODY IN CONNECTICUT WITH A 79 TO STEP FORWARD AND VOLUNTEER HIS LOVELY CADILLAC FOR THAT FILM SHOOT  Cadboy425 09-27-06, 11:06 PM oh yeah...I wonder what you'd make $$$ with that! (more spending money for the car or another car) I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-28-06, 09:26 AM Awesome!!!! :) That is pretty awesome. How lucky can you get! Looks like the car's in great shape. Thanks for sharing!
JRau Thirty years on, and I still love the lines on those cars. OK, I admit, I'm biased, but they're still classy as hell!
Craig Ms_Fleetwood 10-22-06, 08:08 PM WOW how exciting! I wanted to tell that male model to get his foot off that bumper! Beautiful! I used to have a 77 and a 79, but not near as beautiful as yours. Congrats! |
