I went into a store after work today to pick up a few new shirts and forgot to lock my car. I was only in there 10 minutes but somebody must've opened it quickly and taken anything in sight. And I'm PISSED:want: :want: !!!

I'm missing my XM Satellite Radio Player, a Starbucks coffee mug with coffee in it, and a pocket watch that I had repaired (cheap one, no sentimental value either, thankfully). My deductible is $1000 so none of it is covered which ticks me off even more.

It really PISSES ME OFF that some &$@)^## went into my car and stole my stuff:want: ! This is the second time something like this has happened and it still shocks me.

Why do people do such stupid things, get a flippin' job!

I'm with you on this. here's a good one for ya.

I live in a pretty small town on a back road. My closest neighbor is 500ft in either direction. Not much traffic at all.

I go out to the car one morning to leave for work and there's some drunk guy sleeping in the front seat of the Brougham. Talk about violated. I was also pissed.

Then he argued with me and I had to call the cops to remove him. LOL he tried to tell the cops he was my friend. Yeah OK.

I feel for you, I really do. See my older post called I Hate People.

Someone took your coffee? That effed up. That blow's man. At least all that stuff is replaceable. Call up XM and report the ESN as stolen, they won't activate it again.

Someone took my coffee mug with coffee in it, go figure that one out! I'll report the ESN as stolen, is it at all possible to track those?

You're right, it's all replacable but damn it makes you mad!

I feel safer here than I do in most other places.

I lock the car even if I am gone to get oil.

It is always locked, the radio faceplate off, parking brake on.

I know, I know, maybe it comes from growing up in the Bronx but hey, I feel better knowing my car is impenetrable for the most part. The most valuable thing I have in there is a $120 Sony CD Walkman and my extensive collection of music........

Speedy, it does suck, but if I was you, I'd be glad that they didn't break in to get the stuff, even if you did leave it unlocked.

My neighbor is a year younger than me, and to be quite frank, he hangs out with a bunch of "seedy" individuals, people I will not trust. Anyways, I've seen them looking into my Roadmaster for things to steal when I'd leave it parked on the street. But they would do this in the middle of a summer afternoon for christ sakes! My dad has seen them looking into cars this year too, again, in the middle of the afternoon! For what it's worth, I never leave anything in my car exposed. Whatever I have in there is in one of the storage compartments, out of eyesight. And I always, always lock it. I also will not get an aftermarket headunit for this reason. Even if I take the faceplate off, they could still steal the rest of it.

I had the SkyFi2, the docking station is still there but I had installed wireless so I don't have any portable antenna. I don't know if I will order the same thing though, I talked to XM and they said that I could buy any new XM System and they'd transfer my subscription over to it.

I'm thinking of ordering one of the new MP3 XM's like the Samsung Helix or Pioneer Inno. Maybe this is just the excuse I need. BUT I STILL WANT MY COFFEE BACK:histeric:!

I'm the same way Chad, I always try to keep any valuables out of sight. It's hard to do with the satellite radio though.

Oh totally, theres not much you can do about that.

I don't get why they'd take the coffee though. Who wants used coffee?

I haven't been the victim recently (:worship: ) but back in the early 70's, my car was broken into three times in the space of about two months, at the employee lot of the mall anchor store I worked in. Lost two perfectly good 8-track players, and a bunch of good cartridges too. At the time, that was a real bummer, man.. :)

BUT I STILL WANT MY COFFEE BACK
It's probably cold by now.

Then again, it's still summer in Scottsdale. Maybe not.

Still sorry for your loss man. But hey, feel good that the shits that took your stuff will never be in a position to have things like you have. They have to become parasites that feed off people that work hard because they are mindless dumbasses that cannot advance in life. Forever they will occupy the same jobs cleaning up the vomit in restaurants with no idea if they will have a job the next day. I already feel sorry for people that now them. To associate with such lowlifes, who have nothing, want everything, and have no ambitions is a shame too large for an ego or soul.

No, it was in Phoenix. I wasn't in a bad area either but it goes to show that crime can happen anywhere.

Crime is low in Scottsdale, I've never had a problem. There are a few areas in Mesa that I wouldn't drive through at night without at least 4 Secret Service SUV's protecting me though:D.

S. Scottsdale is probably the worst area in Scottsdale and it's still relatively safe.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.
Some people need putting aginst a wall and shooting...

Be thankful they didn't actually break-in to your car to steal those things. I had a car broken into about 4 years ago. As I walked up to it I could see the broken glass on the floor. As it had been raining some rain had gotten in through the broken window. There was glass everywhere, the radio had been torn from the dash with the broken wires left dangling, they'd ransacked the glove compartment and then ripped down the rear seats and got into the trunk and unscrewed my changer too.
This was one of those removable face plate stereos too, but they still took it.

All in all, radio, CDs, dash damage and so on it cost me about $2,000 + getting the window repaired.

Thing is, the money wasn't the painful part, it was seeing my pride and joy violated. My car is like one of the family to me.
2 weeks later (and several other cars getting broke into in the area) I came home one night to see some guy in a Renault actimg suspiciously. Watching me driving into the top of the street. Next minute I hear a car alarm go off further down the street and as I turn in he starts pounding on his car horn. I realise that they're the thieves (as I was driving a modified Sport Compact at the time he probably recognised the car hence why he was watching me so close as I pulled into the street). The street is real narrow (due to cars parked on each side it's only 1 car wide) so I can't turn around so I nail it halfway down the street and pull a handbrake turn at the junction that's there. I go flying back up the street and there's now 2 of them in the Renault and they're having trouble getting it started. They see me and manage to get it going and peel out. I peel out after them. They turn onto the main road without even stopping or looking (I stop and look) and my car easily catches up with them. They then pretend to make a few turns into a couple of junctions but they didn't fool me. They then pull a handbrake turn in the middle of the main street and go back the other way. I do the same. Then, in the middle of a load of traffic they do it again. At this point I decide it's just not safe for me to continue, someone is going to get hurt.
I call the cops and tell them what happened, I give them the vehicle description, the licence plate and what direction they were last headed (towards the cop station as it happened).

And what do the cops tell me?

Them: "Well, you can't be sure they were up to no good".
Me: "Well, if yoiu pull teh mover andf arrest them on suspicion and take their prints and take prints at the scene you can match them to it"
Them: "We can't do that sort of thing".

WTF?!?!

Car crime in the area is just as bad now (I bought a cheap old car for day to day use worth maybe $200 and someone even tried to steal that, by bending the door back, busting the steering lock and trying to hot wire it) and I rent a garage about 20mins walk from my house to keep the IROC in. The Caddy sits outside that (so yes I have to walk 20mins to my car) and so far, thankfully, I've had no problems.

^^ Good job and judgement on your part. Sorry they probably got away though. Makes me want to just carry a burner and taser with me 24/7. Not to harm, but to frighten.

Just to lift spirits I'll envoke a story of mine which the theif got his/hers...as well as one that gave me one hell of a fair warning to ALWAYS lock my doors.

This is a few years back...I'm in Syracuse at my girlfriend's apartment at the time, and I stay there, went back down in the morning and noticed my door was not completely shut. I went up to find that my Jensen stereo was missing... I don't believe that company is in business anymore, and I understand why. I had like 3 of them, and it had a "cool" motorized thing that hid/deployed the controls...but it would break down in a week. I had finally managed to improve it with a spring and silicone spray, but then it stopped output to the speakers totally...just completely screwed... So...the theif can be my guest with that stereo...that...and at the time, I had a tenor sax, laptop computer, and a flatbed scanner in the back...probably about $7,000 worth... PHEW!...and enjoy the stereo bastard :D
